DOGWATCHER

is it just me, or do all the young eagles female supporters just dress up inappropriately for the footy???? obviously each club has it but they seem to have the most all dressed up as if they are off to a wedding.

crowds will be up at EAGLES games next year providing all the supporters they had yesterday remember to go during the winter

I dunno mate. Not going to talk stereotypes as I hate them being applied to me or my club.

But these particular girls looked like they were heading to the Ramsgate afterwards to try and look beautiful and pick up a footballer.

No problem with how they dressed to be honest.

The 'problem', not that there was a problem really cos it was all so funny, was the way they were talking to my wife, who was with her family.
Just read my original post on it and you'll see what I was originally discussing.

Let me guess - one overweight thirtyish tart with an Eagles scarf, and her snaggletoothed (grand)mother with a Crows hat?

nah - as I said earlier. All very lovely looking young ladies, dressed like they were going to a nightclub.
Seriously, it was funny for my wife to be called a feral, just cos of where she hails from, when these girls were carrying on the way they were.

Someone needed to tell them that feral has more to do with how you act than your postcode.

Anyway -it wasn't that big an issue. It was just a funny experience.

I hear you, DW. They are everywhere - in all clubs.

I get embarassed when supporters of whatever team *I* am for (Eagles, or otherwise) throw insults in the losers faces.

Mind you, I moved after half time - I was on the outer wing and the dick behind me (Centrals supporter, but that isn't the point) was the most illogical **** I've ever heard at the footy. I hate the fact I feel the need to justify decisions et al to someone who doesn't know what they're saying. At one point, to try and "keep it down" in the event that he was yelling so damn loud because I (an Eagles supporter) was right in front of him, I turned around and said "Gees, Slade's been ok but how many times has Wilbur touched the ball??"

To which he replied "Wilbur??"

"Wilson"

"Ahh, I didn't know that was his nickname"

Hehe :)

From Dutchy:

IMO its much better that this happens to the Eagles today than in the GF, if they won today they would be comfortable that they had shaken the dogs dominence only to be sitting ducks in the GF....this way they get another crack (that they earned) and if they get past North (which I think they will) they will throw caution to the wind int he GF (as they litterally have nothing to lose when playing the dogs again!)

A good coach could use all this to his advantage, whether Fuller can do that is debatable.

What a way to win a flag though if they can do it....I have a feeling they might

This was the only thing I could hold onto after two weeks ago.

[quote="spell_check"]

In the third quarter as each goal was registered the cheer got louder; not as loud as of course by an early Centrals goal but suddenly it seemed like we had more support there; was great to see.

At the start of the game I was yelling out you eagles one eagles lady turned around and said good Im not alone :D
I looked around during the third term Spell Check and all of a sudden there were eagles flags everywhere and I thought my god we are out in numbers today !!
Was cheering my guts out all day and late in the third quarter the little old lady who was all decked out in her doggies gear with all her family dressed the same way turned to me and said you dont need to yell so much you are going to win couldnt help myself I kept yelling and yelling !!
Told my lad at the end of the game to stand and enjoy because 13 yrs is a hell of along time to wait !!

But were they acting feral? That was more my point - than the way they were dressed. And how appearances can be deceiving.
But yes, it's funny how some girls dress when they go to the footy. Cracks me up to see them all preened and ready for a night out disco dancing at AAMI Stadium!

Micky you had every right to be yelling and cheering.
It annoys me when spectators give you grief for cheering your team on.
As long as you're not being obnoxious, what does it matter, that's what you're there for.

Yes, noticed that too, there quite a few. Didn't bring my big flag, just the scarf.

13 years is certainly a very long time...I just hope the kids now who are around my age the last time we won it in 1993 remember it well, as you never know when we will next win it!

It's a culture that has developed since the introduction of the Crows. A lot of spectators now prefer to sit and listen to the radio with ear phones rather than barrack. Anyone barracking prevents them hearing the call. :)

It was announced last night also that Hills had signed on as major sponsor of the club for a further 5 years so not only a big win on the field, but also off field for the Eagles.
