SANFL GF in the Vic Media!

Postby Leaping Lindner » Mon Oct 09, 2006 12:21 pm

Just as a matter of interest this morning I checked the Herald Sun results pages to get the best of and goalkickers in the GF (which they had listed - Cicca as BOG by the way).I then turned to the Age and found nothing in their weekend results, and wasn't surprised as quite often during the year the SANFL results didn't appear. But then "knock me over with a feather " there was a 1/4 page article written by Ashley Porter on the GF in the actual sports section. Unbelieveable.
"They got Burton suits, ha, you think it's funny, turning rebellion into money"

Interesting article.

I think Ashley Porter will find that the young Eagles player he mentioned is Paul Stewart and not Peter Stewart.

Ashley Porter wrote:The past two Magarey medallists, Jeremy Clayton and this season's winner, former Carlton player Brett Backwell, have not played at the SANFL's headquarters. Last night, there were 21 Eagles players ready to describe the experience.

Not quite sure what point he's making here... :?

That both Clayton and Backwell haven't played at AAMI, but there are Eagle players (and Central ones for that matter) that can tell them about it.

Harmless article.

Mr Porter now its Mr Mals turn

How many of the 21 Eagles footballers have won a mag medal ?

Why do we play the grand final and only game at that venue ?

The Eagles have won the flag in both the afl and sanfl.
Anyone know if any more eagles teams have won their stae league flags?

I know that Cobdogla won the Riverland's Independent football premiership this year.
Damn them!

Interestingly they beat the Paringa Swans, who beat them in last year's match up.

How the hell does Cobdogla put a team together?
Last time I was there in about 98 or 99 it seemed about 3 farmers, 2 dogs and a possum lived at the place!

They have a reasonable population for a small town.
Cobby's much larger than Moorook, the club I play for.
All clubs in the Independent league feed off the larger towns to boost their playing stocks.
But Cobby and Paringa, and maybe East Murray would have the larger number of players from their population.

Brown's Well and Wunkar have even a smaller population than the farmers, dogs and possum you described.
