We have some of the highest profile sponsors in SA but their logos were never put on the guernsey, and neither have they insisted on it, or made it conditional of their support. Says something about the standing of the sponsors we have, compared to some of the people we have to deal with.....

Some of us wanted to put an opposition logo on it as well, but that was deemed to be not the right thing to do as we stick to our principles. That WE logo remains the only one on it.

Didn't I see your A grade wearing the West End Logo yesterday Jimmy???

As you can see, you made a statement about last year - we eventually had to put the West End logo on the guernsey because the League said they would fine us something like $10 for every guernsey that didn't show it - that would have been around $660 every week

This year we were not allowed to have a home final because of this rule:

Jimmy_041 wrote:HOME FINALS

· Home finals are offered to eligible Member Clubs for all finals matches (except Grand Finals)
· For the right to host a home final Member Clubs will be required to pay a fee to The League (see table of fees below)
· Member Clubs that finish highest on the premiership table (refer: to Rule 28.28) get the option of hosting a final provided they meet the criteria specified below.
· Matches will be played at neutral grounds when a Member Club chooses not to or is refused the
opportunity by The League to play a home final.
· Where possible, two matches would be scheduled for each venue. The venue follows the team in higher Divisions.
· The League will endeavour to match teams from the same Member Club at the same venue. (eg
Division 2 Reserve first semi final may be played before a Division 2 second semi final if one or
more of the teams are from the same Member Club – finishing highest A Division team gets
preference).
· Member Clubs may ask for a donation at matches but cannot charge spectators upon entry. Car
park charges are permitted.
· Member Clubs must fulfil The League’s obligations to its sponsors, i.e. must be a SA Brewing
Company sponsored Member Club and sell only SABC products at finals venue at its home
matches during the minor round season
.

· Spectators are not permitted to bring alcohol into the ground and away Member Clubs are
requested to communicate this requirement to patrons in their mail out to supporters in the week
preceding a final.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR HOSTING A HOME FINAL
The Executive Committee sets the following criteria for Member Clubs to host finals
Grounds
· The ground surface needs to be in ‘reasonable condition’ taking into account weather conditions
in the weeks preceding the match.
· In adverse weather conditions, the Football Operations Committee will determine the suitability of the ground surface in the week preceding the match.
· The League reserves the right to change a finals venue during the week preceding the match.
Umpire and Player Facilities
· The change rooms must have basic facilities for players and umpires to change and trainers to
prepare the players.
Spectator Facilities
That the Member Club provides basic facilities for spectators:
· Toilets – male, female, disabled (if possible)
· Canteen facilities
· Shelter from inclement conditions – temporary would suffice should there be no permanent
shelter

We still refuse to sell the crap, and after yesterday, I have no idea why anyone would want to drink it anyway

Fair enough Jimmy, got a bit lost with the fact we were talking about last year and this year.
Why wouldn't you guys just buy 1 carton of WE at the start of the year and have it sitting in the corner of your fridge thing and continue selling your normal beer of choice? I know everywhere else have a couple of choices of beers, even CBCOC (CBC having similiar facilities). Wouldn't this make sense so that you then could play home finals?

Thought westies had them at quarter time when they lead by 7 goals and then again in the third quarter when they lead again by 6 goals. But Roys had much better structure this week with all their forward line available for the first time in a while and in the end had a few too many options up there for Westies to handle. Was a tough, entertaining game of footy.

I was there until half time and thought Westies had it stitched up.

Umpiring was SHIZEN! It was so hard to get any decent footage due to the blatent overuse of the whistle. Whoever it was has no idea of the "advantage" rule. I swear he had the bloody thing stuck down his throat :?

You can only sell SABC products during the year - but you are correct - how does CBCOC get a home final? - I've bought a green label there!!!

Yeah that's my point. When was the last time you walked into any amatuer league club and they only served WE. I was at Adel Lutheran yesterday and bought a couple of TEDS. The rule above doesn't really make sense to me.

I thought it was you had to have WED on tap? Every club would sell products other than SABC beers, if that rule was enforced there would be nowhere to play at all.

Doesn't need to be WED on tap just Lion Nathan beers on sale in the main. And there are other options to put on tap from the range like James Squires, Heineken etc for those that can't sell much WED.

Settle down fellas no need to drag CBC through the mud. I guarantee if u look in our fridges and recycling bins u will c SABC and coke products only. There could have been a small oversight during the year but if that did happen it wouldve been very quickly rectified. The West End of the Day is the Best End of the Day.

Sounds like just Stubborness from PAC, to give up (generally) the significant advantage of playing at home because they can't sell the beer they like sounds a bit pig headed. There obviously is going to be other support for opposition there and neutral observers, just buy a few slabs of WE, Teds, New, Hahn, Boags, etc etc shouldn't go to waste.

Yeah - you're right - we should tell one of our major sponsors to f### off for the good of the League

The rule is:

Member Clubs must fulfil The League’s obligations to its sponsors, i.e. must be a SA Brewing
Company sponsored Member Club and sell only SABC productsat finals venue at its home matches during the minor round season.

The rule is very plain and clear - you are not allowed to sell anything but SABC products during the minor round season or you can be denied a home final.

I have bought a Coopers at 2 CBC games (ie) East Parklands and Campbelltown Oval and at Pooraka this year, so how do they get a home final?????

Under the above rule, neither should get a home final - why does it only apply to us?

To be perfectly clear - I am not bitching about the rule but the selective use of it. Good for one - good for all

Don't wreckon we would be the only 2 clubs that sell this beer. Incidently isn't Coopers brewed here in SA anyway? Coopers being your major sponsor and all and the reason you don't sell WE.

Just crossed my mind reading one of the other posts you did:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR HOSTING A HOME FINAL
The Executive Committee sets the following criteria for Member Clubs to host finals
Grounds
· The ground surface needs to be in ‘reasonable condition’ taking into account weather conditions
in the weeks preceding the match.
· In adverse weather conditions, the Football Operations Committee will determine the suitability of the ground surface in the week preceding the match.

Spectator Facilities
. That the Member Club provides basic facilities for spectators:
· Toilets – male, female, disabled (if possible)

· Canteen facilities
· Shelter from inclement conditions – temporary would suffice should there be no permanent
shelter[/b]
From memory I don't remember public toilets being available other than in the actual changerooms, nor a canteen at PAOC? Maybe this is why the league doesn't let you host finals.
