Nick's a good player, gets a heap of the ball, obviously stands out!

Is the CBC v PAC game being played at CBC home ground this Saturday?

saw the bloke play both times and hes ok but yeah no superstar. but either way congrats too the bloke.
clearly there is some funny business going on at lutheran with the votes though, because in the c grade vs PAC, PAOC won by 25goals and lutheran got all 3 votes!

clearly something going on. but in saying that i personally think the whole vote system for lower gardes needs to be addressed, its a farce and blokes like this fella are coping it for umpires and or officials screwing with cards.

Yeah look to be honest I wouldn't know, I've never played B's or C's (yet!) so haven't really known who should get the votes in those grades etc..
Obviously getting a 3,2,1 when you lose by 25 goals doesn't sound right - my first question would be, don't both umpires decide on the votes?? Your umpire needs to toughen up... or didn't have a say??
Not sure of the solution tho, but does seem the umps got most the A grade medals right, going by people's predictions across the grades.

I have heard that the Lutheran Umpire generally submits his votes- without any consultation with the other umpire... & he is also a blatant cheat.

Ok then. Like I said I wouldn't know.
But surely the first step then would be to ensure both umpires and maybe even Match-day officials take the voting very seriously, do them together, so there's no animosity toward medal winners..

I think that the voting does need to be addressed for sure and both umpires should consult a little better. Look, the guy wasn't a bad player, don't get me wrong but I don't think he was 7 votes better than the next guy. What happens during the game and whether he umpired poorly or not is irrelevant but at the end of the game the '3 best players on the ground' should get the votes as agreed by both the umpires. Charity votes should not be awarded but unfortunately they do and as you say catch, it just causes issues in the end.

We're playing PAOC at Pooraka this week mate. Will be a tough game but we are keen and ready to go and buoyed by our 3 goal win against them on their deck last time. Our key is that we have a settled side, amazingly once the A's went out we didn't get a single player back from them so we have settled nicely and are playing some good clean footy.
Only unsettling thing is the loss of our FF who was BOG last weekend kicking 5 who shot a nail thru his finger into his bone at work this week but hopefully it doesn't it infected and he can play in 2 weeks time ;)

Hmmm, similar story last year too Zed...

Its weird, i cant even picture what the bloke looks like !

Blonde hair, wears a long sleeve jumper under his guernsey, left footer, not overly fast. Not a bad player but cant say he would have polled in both games against us....

probably wouldn't have polled too many in either game against us either??
Is Adelaide Lutheran's umpire the big bloke with curly hair?

Yeah I think so. The same bloke that during a bit of a rumble involving about 20 players, and whilst our umpire had stopped play and was escorting 2 players off the ground for fighting decided to let a Lutheran player take the ball, have a couple of bounces and run into an open goal !!! Was hilarious !! Odd.... but funny now looking back on it...

At the end of the day their is always going to be bias opinions regarding votes especially in reseves and c grade football where one of the umpires is from your club. Unfortunately I think this takes a little bit away from the guys who win. Very unusual for a bloke to get so many votes in a side that only won 3-4 games. Similiar there was an instance this year in an A grade game where we had one of our players kick three of the best running goals you would ever see. In all three instances ran down the wing had 4-5 bounces around players and kicked the goal from 50. He had about 30 touches that game and we beat Unley by about 8 goals. Unley polled all three votes that game!
I guess there is no better system than the umpires doing the voting though so this could go on for a while!

Biased opinions is one thing but blatant cheating to have someone win it from your own club is another thing.
The example that teaoby gave in an above post is a classic!!
But you are right there is no other better system currently so we can't complain I guess.

Oval always holds up well. I reckon the oval was going to be mowed today! They mowed around the oval yesterday, but the gates were locked to get onto the oval apparently so hopefully they do it today! You GG boys hanging around to watch the A grade game after? Always a ripper barbie and plenty of frothies available! :D
