Fans Should Capitilise on Unique/ Bright Colours!

Postby Wedgie » Tue Oct 10, 2006 4:04 pm

Seeing the Eagles premiership Tshirt today reminded me of something I've been meaning to bring up.
North fans always stand out like dog's balls because of the predominately red we wear.
So many other clubs are predominately black or navy blue with their merchandise that they just blend in and you're never quite sure how many supporters are at games.
Probably more so the Eagles now than the Bays especially as the Eagles have a gold guernsey (not yellow, was reminded of that today) and now have a Premiership T that is yellow, their fans should capitilise on thise and wear yellow. It would probably look like there's a lot more Eagles fans than their appears at games now with most of them wearing predominately blue.
Now before anyone says "yeah but yellow is gay", just have a look at Wallabies test matches, the fans wear predominately yellow (or gold, sorry) and it looks great.
Eagles fans, time to make the most of winning a premiership in gold, turn up to games next year wearing gold, it'll look great.
It suits your club to a tee also with it being the shared colour of the two previous clubs and not only would look good but would be a great sign of unity.

I for one think the Port Adelaide Football Club should make a bid to enter the AFL (formerly the VFL) and adopt a colour similar to a pale blue, for arguments sake, let's call it teal.I think this colour, along with the addition of some players of recent VFL/AFL experience could propel Port Adelaide to a premiership in the premier competition in the land.

Not a bad idea Booney, just make sure if it goes ahead the club involved finds out the difference between teal and turquoise to avoid embarassment. We wouldn't want their guernsey being predominately turquoise whilst professing it to be teal, if happened who knows what might happen? Crikey even their fans might cop flack for being uneducated!

Even better, it'd be great if that club had unique colours like rose pink in their history, that'd be a unique and ideal colour to use!

(BTW,from memory I dont think the fans picked the colour, only the jumper design...?)

Yes excellent call Wedgie.

I was thinking exactly the same thing after seeing the GOLD premiership tshirt. It certainly is unique and stands out. I agree that in your photos navy blue's and greens blend in so if the GOLD Wallaby equivalent colour scheme is worn in will give more of a visual impact. I was also thinking along the lines of comparing to North's predominantly bright red supporters clothing.

I'll be stocking up on them and wearing to the games next year, when weather premits. Perhaps keep one just for matches, not sure on how the material will last. You never know when the next flag will be an my 93 tshirt is certainly looking more than old & tired now!!

Now I just need that pair of gold leather pants to go with them, and no, not with the @ss cheeks cut out!!

Perhaps the club could get some scarfes/scarves wih mainly gold in them?

Great idea. When all supporters wear the same colour it stands out and makes them look far more imposing. Yellow or gold whatever it is will look great if theres a large number of people wearing them, much like our red.

I don't mind if the fans wear gold in the crowd, but I hope the gold guernsey is worn as little as possible out on the field. The blue one looks much better.

A lot of Aussie Rules fans say the same sort of thing about white playing strips.

But you only have to look at a team like St. George-Illawarra in the NRL to see how good a predominantly white playing strip can look.

Hated the Canberra Raiders strip when they changed it a few years back to the darker, more 'masculine' green.
