Brookers pretty well led all day before TV ran away in the last quater. TV's Carter did a Hamstring and would be in serious doubt for the GF. Jacques was dominant, while Slattery was quiet. Kersbrook Bs suffered their first loss for the year against Nairne, but will have several returning for next week. Kersbrook B grader A.Wehrman would have been the only Brooker cheering on Nairne as he is now eligble to play in the GF should Kersbrook make it.

Want to know who will win the 2009 AFL premiership? Click the link and let Alex Williamson show you, in a rather unorthodox manner:

I thought Brookers were home Cougar and I felt they were the better side on the day. But very untidy, messy play and dropped opportunities in their backlines allowed TV to capitalize in the last quarter. The game was a worry in that a Premiership team didn't seem to be on that ground on the day. Would be interested in other posters' thoughts......

Coming from someone who has no involvement in either club:

It was a comfortable win to Macclesfield, while obviously not what we want to see in Hills Footy, was certainly the most interesting game of the day.
The Player reported was Josh Harris from TV, reported after receiving his second Yellow card then the red for abusing the umpire.
TV handed Maccy 3 of their first 4 goals for undisciplined play, 1 TV player abused the umpire 30 metres off the ball, at Half forward for Maccy, which gave the ball to Maccy who got a goal from the next play, then before the ball went back to the centre, there was high contact on a Maccy player in front of goal, who received a free kick for another goal. 3rd goal was the result of Josh Harris abusing the umpire when his teammate was kicking in after a Macclesfield point, Josh got his first yellow and Maccy got the free at the end of the square.
Torrens Valley could not come back from there.
There was a bit of feeling/spite throughout the game, some scuffles starting at ball ups, or after free kicks, umpires copped a bit, something like 4 yellow cards and the red, all bar one i believe for abusing the umpires, and seemingly all off the ball, not really in the heat of the contest, which was odd.

Regarding the melee at the end of the game, heard some supporters from both sides were blaming the umpires for not keeping control, but what actually caused the melee was a Macclesfield player flattening a Torrens Valley Player off the ball, just in general play in front of the Club rooms, the umpire then paid the free kick to the Torrens Valley player. But then another TV player ran in and flattened the Macclesfield player, and then all the players came running in and it was on. A Maccy player got sent off for charging in and basically starting a second melee with another group of players right in front of the TV interchange,
From there some officials/parents/drink boys became involved, one teen ran in from the sidelines and promptly slipped over flat on his back in the mud, then got dragged off by a trainer. Nice one!
Owen Lamshed instructed the timekeepers to blow the siren, i think only around 30 seconds left in the game anyway, and what was the interesting once the siren went, most of the Maccy players put their hands up in the air for victory, the fighting stopped pretty much straight away and all but a handful of players shook then hands of the opposition they were just fighting with!

Pretty ordinary display from players/spectators alike for a junior match, hopefully just an isolated event.

IN other results

Nairne beat Echunga in U17's
Echunga beat Torrens Valley in the B's
Echunga beat Nairne in the A's

That Harris kid is a good young player but he does have a bad temper on occasions......

Thought Kersy would get the job done against Garrys boys, especially after hearing GE flogged them to death at training during their week off and a few of the boys had little niggles going into the game, or was that a ready made excuse ?? Carters injury is a blow but he isnt as big an influence as he used to be and they have the depth to cover him. Kersy will come out breathing fire to get another crack at them and poor old Echunga are going to cop it again.

Having said that good on them for getting the win, that I didnt expect. They will want to atone for their pathetic showing 2 weeks ago but I think theyll find the going pretty tough. Also heard a rumour that we will be hosting the prelim, it was to be Echunga but they are now playing of course.

Preliminary Finals - At Callington
A Grade
Kersbrook Vs Echunga

B Grade
Kersbrook Vs Echunga

Senior Colts
Kangarilla Vs Nairne

Junior Colts
Echunga Vs Macclesfield.

Seems like the Grand Final hosting will be between Meadows & Maccy.

Although Meadows have had a crappy year their future can't be all bad with S/C in the G/F and two junior Mail medallists...do rate Jimmy as a player, very fair and very hard and he goes all day for a big lad.
G/F is at Maccy no question about it, apparently Nairne oval is under water so a good decision by Owen...Cally is a great finals venue except for their primitive toilets. Think I'll dig a hole this week to take a dump..more hygienic that's for sure.

I've heard it's at Nairne Shortman

Seems like we were both wrong !!!

Callington getting 2 finals in a row. When was the last time this happened, if at all ?? Nairne was never going to get the game after looking at their oval last week and of course Echunga and Kersy were ruled out. Our away changerooms are poor (better hot water tho !!) but our oval is in good nick still, nevermind. Perhaps this is a way for the HFL to help out Cally ?? I assume theyd take a % of the gate aswell as bar and canteen money so its not a bad idea.

Maccy should be a monty for the GF. Its a great oval nowadays and the facilities are pretty good, plus it was a great success last year.
