Ahhhh SMac and Southwark - I feel your pain. I too lost the GF that day. I was playing for the Elizabeth under 15s and we lost to Salisbury. We were undefeated too! Jamie Nenke, Steve Couzner, Hamish Hewett, Papanotis, Justin Carter and Terry Smith were all playing for the Maggies - they were some talented blokes.

I should throw some Elizabeth names from the under 17s at you, you might remember them and shudder. lol

What do you mean the "great Dave Couzner took things into his own hands"?

I went to school with the Couzners. Dave was playing in the Riverland for waikerie this year (B grade - not quite sure what was going on with that, but...) and I actually saw him in the Elizabeth City Centre on Saturday. Crazy that his name gets brought up in a thread...

And boys - I'll see what I can do about scanning those pics. Might be a while though, I have a music festival to organise!

Mate, I am sure I would remember most of those names - played heaps of association and centrals footy with a lot of them. We developed a healthy respect for each other over the years (I think it was about 4 GF's in a row, winning 2 each from my hazy memory banks). Couzy was the player who got cracked with the trumpet dw, I think the bloke regretted it within about 10 seconds of throwing it - has to be a bloody good hit to slow him down.

Yeah Dave's a hard ass.
Now, the bloke who had the trumpet didn't get thumped. He was hit once and then was pushed aside as the bigger boys (17s) went after whoever had a go at him first. Whether that was Dave, I'm not sure.

Woo hoo - Virginia! Remember those tin shed changerooms?

Darryl Prosser, Mick Eliot, 'Yugo' Svetic, 'Gogs', 'Yank' Ryan, Darren Ellis are some of the names I can think of off hand.

I was arrested at Footy Park in about 1978...or was it 1979? The cops said that I had to have a busker's license to play a musical instrument there! Wankers! :x

Way back in the early 90s at a CDFA under 17s GF an Elizabeth supporter blew one, a Salisbury player who'd been on the losing side took umbrage and attacked the kid and it was all on from there. I happened to be in the middle of this - congratulating an Elizabeth mate before the blue started - and let me tell you, for a 14 year old, it was scary that blue.

I've got photos of it too - my dad was taking photos from the boundary line.

So Sam, they were right to take it away from you! ;)
Would love to see the photos dogwatcher, I was the Salisbury captain that day, still shits me to this day that we lost!

It was allright for you. You didn't have to front up in the Granny the following year only to lose it on a forfeit. Now that still shits me

Yeah, pretty happy I missed out on that one and I will refrain from detailing the story in here - suffice to say it was a disgrace.

I know Dave got plenty in that day, along with most of the rest of us

The tin shed fell over one year when I played a trial game out there, we had to rescue our bags at the end of the game!

Remember all of those players, I pipped Mick by 1 vote for the association medal one year and played association footy with all of them at some point.

I remember that year in the medal. The grumpy little bugger he was.
I was always scared of Els when I was a kid - he was always getting sent off for fighting!

When I started playing senior footy though, he became one of my best mates. Still is, even though we see each other once every two years or so.

SMac - pm me the grand final story. And tell me your name, might remember it.

Who was the next Capogreco, I reckon I played a SAFA association game with him....
