Just letting everyone know that the association website has been updated for the new season, and you can download the updated match rules and constitution there.

Don't forget to bookmark it:
ccca.sa.cricket.com.au

The draw and allocation of teams to grades should be posted in the next couple weeks.

Also, if anyone has anything they want to publicise to the association, let me know, and I will put it up on the site.

considering the start of the season is only 4 weeks away, is there a date that the teams in each grade will be posted, bit short notice to get told 2 weeks before start of season your playing in Div 1..... if a team knew now or few weeks ago, gives them a better chance to recruit players.

why would you have to wait to see what div you are in to start recruiting? surely that can be done at any time :?

if you find out your playing in div 1, then you can try and attract a good cricketer than perhaps if you are playing in Div 2.... most cricketers that play the game want to play at the highest level possible in a league, so by going out recruiting and saying your in div 1, you have a better chance to attract some good players than saying that your team plays in div 2, make sense?

I would say if your club put in to play div 1, it's a pretty strong chance you will.

Any word on the Competition make up of teams yet?

Also was wondering who you all think would be the quickest and most accurate bowlers in the competition? In last years division 3 I would say James Hughes and Adam Gully from Enfield are pretty nippy, and Jonathan Turland of Brooklyn Park is accurate. Fred Jarrett from CM would be up there for pace as well.

How would young pidge fair?

Think your judgement is miles off, you would be quicker than then mr green. Hughes bowls pedestrian as does turland.

Jarrett is good but bowls too short and gully is consistantly the same boring line and length, no variation, no thought process.

I would say matt johnson (eastside) would be quickest from div 3 last season.

Crackers still bowls with nice pace as does holland and barnes. Bourke i think it is from fitzroy not too bad for pace and BB on a good day.

Vines (PV) has some pace behind him and being short is a tricky sort of length to play due to his good length being a fraction shorter than most..

I think I played against Eastside, but can't remember how quick Johnson bowled. I probably slipped down one of the massive cracks in the field (nearly the worst ground to play on). I was suggesting Turland was more of an accurate bowler rather than a speedy bowler, would you agree? I think I've seen a bit of Bourke, looks pretty nippy, but tires after a few overs.

You guys are going to be in for a shock this season if you think the players listed are sharp. Dutchy used to bowl with some good wheels and had a handy outswinger, Barnsey could've done with a run-up but could still send them down at a reasonable pace and Bourkey bowled with an excellent line and length and was very persistent, I wouldn't think that he was of the same pace as the 2 Paralowians though.

There would have to be 15 to 20 bowlers going around in the PDCA who are faster, you will be exposed to 1 maybe 2 of them this season. I think the Roos will win the flag if they can have everyone focussed for the whole season and not drop off once football pre-season gets underway.

Does Harey play cricket still carey?

I hear that Matty "Dr Death" Nitschke has been training hard in the off season at the Adelaide Oval indoor nets and is looking to make a return to Div 1 for Adelaide Lutheran. On his day, he would easily be faster than any of the players listed above.

Good to hear Nitschke is half serious for a change Eck'. I found him sharpish, but straight up and down, predictable and very hittable. How's the 'old dog' Micah shaping up for 2009/10? :D When I first started playing in this comp in about '93, Big M was the most dangerous bloke I had the privelege of seeing the new ball off against. Bit of a loose cannon too, unlike circa 2009.. ;) Can't say anyone else I faced was as quick or as dangerous, although Brenton Oldman used to get 'em zinging around in the practice nets..

Chris Hughes is playing at Kilburn now i think? (could be wrong) Was having trouble with his back in our comp so was only good for very short spells.
