I heard about it from a Fitzroy mate who came over to the western side at half time - and as he said, it wasn't witty or funny. It wouldnt have worried Roo after playing against the Vic teams so many times

But, instead of sledging him, have a little bit of guts to put your hand up to stand him like some do. Just shows how pi$$ f#$%ing weak some blokes are.

BTW, whilst you were laughing all the way home you drunken ferals, he was out there running and kicking by himself, warming down, for an hour after the game

roo gave it back to the crowd which was good to see a couple of times... i heard someone say

"your a nobody roo" or something similar.... i am not a crows fan at all... but the guy is an absolute gun, and he kicked 8 yesterday so i dont think he has much to prove.

i will also say roo almost had a kids death on his hands when he booted that goal from the goal square just missing a young boy playing behind the goals...

roo was in a very angry mood yesterday.... what a gun tho

I think any sledging should be done sans the "f" word & "c" word.

As for Roo being sledged- surely he's copped a lot worse, & would be immune to it by now?

I don't see a real need for a foul stream of abuse to be directed at anyone though (& young kids having to hear this).

i dont no why people would be abusing roo because what he has done for the competition has been huge.. even though no one can stop him and paoc are a completely different team when he plays while your out there playing with him he is a great bloke.. as a young player it was a great experience to play with roo and he was often giving out advice on the field and having a laugh with the opposition.. hopefuli he continues to play in the saafl and more players of his ability come out and help the amatuer clubs that started there career

Totally agree, playing PAOC in the last round we were disappointed we missed the chance to play against roo and mods, although to was nice to get a drink of water from mods filling the water boy role :)

Exactly, more players coming down from the sanfl and afl after their careers is great publicity for the amateur league, as well as a great thrill for players playing with/against. Funny sledging is alright, but excessive use of "f" and "c" i cant find funny....

I certainly agree that the performance on the weekend by the Fitzroy crowd was in very poor taste, bagging Riccuitio is plain stupid, why would you want to fire the bloke up ? I would have to say that they were sadly no better or worse than what you would find in most games on a saturday though. Obviously it was a final so there was more Fitzroy supporters, therefore more noise but the content that they came out with was the same as you would hear most of the year from them or anyone else, it was just magnified due to the larger numbers.
I am in no way justifying the behaviour just in my opinion it is what not "out of the ordinary ".

Any time over the top bad language is used with young kids around like they was on Saturday is absolutely unaaceptable.

Good luck to CBC and PAOC next week, will e a very good GF

the amount of foul mouthed abuse Riccutio copped was alot worse then what you would see in a normal game. one peanut was even 5-10 mtrs on the gound. i for one love to watch former AFL players come back to play in fact like watching all good players. i just dont see why these guys would want to put up with that shit. Roo did give it back to him once, i think he just asked the lad if he could talk any slower. he has probably heard it all before in the AFL but there is a big difference to 50,000 peeople screaming and just catching what some one says, then foul mouth idiots with 30 people in the area. no it wasnt funny or witty.

Is that a fair assesment DE ?

Someone from PAOC can answer this - Are PAOC a better side than last year ?

I havent seen them play this year, but looking at their side, i wouldnt think they are.

Is D4 weaker this year than last ?

I havent seen any D4 games this year at all.

General consensus yesterday from the PAC, CBC, Fitzroy and SW blokes I spoke to was that it is a much tougher competition this year, plus PAOC 2009 would comfortably beat 2008 even without Roo or Modra.

Key areas:

Will Dalwood in ruck - we struggled in ruck badly last year although James absolutely dominated the ruck yesterday
Much tougher on ball - the one armed bandit at CHB has allowed Phillips to play onball and Matto coming good in the 2nd half
We struggled with pace last year - much quicker this year with a far better spread of runners

Pretty general comment, but most 2009 D4 sides other than Unley and North Haven would beat their teams last year

Going to be a good game next week - let's hope its dry and on a big oval, if just to keep the spectators apart - bit of bad blood last week

Any truth in the rumour CBC have had another key player with a late transfer to Greenacres? ;) ;) ;)

Would have to agree CBCOC is hugely improved on last year, mainly faster and stronger bodies. Also reckon Fitzroy were big improvers. Would have to include Lutheran in the teams not improving. Unley were "in" more games this year, but also copped more beltings than last, so perhaps on par with last year.
Overall, see D4 as a better standard this year, but perhaps not a huge amount.

Speaking of transfers, whatever happened to the Fitzroy chap who crashed his car in front of the Jet's oval earlier in the year ?
