Club Crawl

Postby Squawk » Thu Oct 12, 2006 1:06 am

Has anyone ever done a "Club Crawl"???

The club crawl is where you and the troops allocate a day in which you have a drink at every SANFL club bar.

Maybe this could be organised as a fundraiser for the off-season eg to help cover costs associated with this site or to buy a bit of gear for a disadvantaged footy club somewhere? Maybe even a fundraiser for Total SANFL on C31 given the show has very limited financial means. (Sorry, but I wouldn't have the time personally to organise this proposal). It would also be a great way for users to meet/catch up in the off-season, as well as putting a few dollars over the bar at all the clubs.

10 locations plus travel might be a bit much for one day, but the alternative would be to do 5+5 on two separate days (eg a Saturday) - go northish one day, (woodville, alberton, prospect, central, adelaide oval or maybe the Queens Arms or Cathedral), and go southish the other day (sturt, richmond, south, glenelg, norwood).

Finishing at a central location would be in everyone's best interests :)

Any thoughts??? :?: :D Any suggested beneficiaries if it was a small fundraiser? Any volunteers who could organise it?

I live too far away, but shit I'm interested!

Get it at the right time of year and I'll hopefully get in!

Organise for a place to stay, get the permission from the missus and I'll be in for a Saturday some time over summer.

Otherwise - i'm too far away. lol

You'd be lining up for a long time if you tried to get a drink at Prospect.

Does a mini bus need to be arranged,as this would be a logistical nightmare.

1: Start at Norwood-Sturt-South-Glenelg-West-Eagles-Port-Central-North.Big day.

I would be in if appropriate transport could be arranged...?

Yeah - I was thinking a mini bus or even a small fleet of them.... :)
Wedgie - for clubs with no bar facilities we could attend the club pub, not the club rooms so to speak.
Booney - agree, big day if you did them all in one day, hence maybe 5 venues on day and a month later, the other five. Would also mean that people who maybe couldn't make one day could maybe make it along to the other day...

LOL - will you dare to drink 52 cans Booney?

Whilst its not a bad idea, serious drinking time would be wasted in the transport between venues.
I'd rather do a pub crawl of pubs in Adelaide, North Adelaide or something similar.

Every now and then the voice of reason returns sanity to the matter at hand (Not sure you'd hear that too often Wedgie? ) ... I tend to agree with Mills'n and think a crawl of pubs, probably in the city, is perhaps the better option.

Perhaps an entire day at each club? Meet every 5-6 weeks and take a year to get through them all!

Are you talking about my beautiful blue boys!!

I'd love to catch up with some of you good folk for a bit of a social (nice to meet you Wedgie (in Gerry's shop on Tues)). I do agree the would be a lot of time lost in transit. Why not just have a get together at say Westies or Noth. Both have decent facilities and are reasonable central?

In, prefer though Adelaide. Prehaps some tshirts or caps will be needed. The club idea has merits but some too far away (Centrals and South) but rest could be done in a day.

Okay then, perhaps an idea to create a running list of those interested (in case any generous publicans in/near the city can be talked into offering friendly deal of sorts) is a good start, after which we can work on the date ..

I think this is about right, feel free to cut, copy, edit, paste etc ..
