Dutchy used to bowl with some good wheels and had a handy outswinger, Barnsey could've done with a run-up but could still send them down at a reasonable pace and Bourkey bowled with an excellent line and length and was very persistent, I wouldn't think that he was of the same pace as the 2 Paralowians though.

There would have to be 15 to 20 bowlers going around in the PDCA who are faster, you will be exposed to 1 maybe 2 of them this season. I think the Roos will win the flag if they can have everyone focussed for the whole season and not drop off once football pre-season gets underway.

Does Harey play cricket still carey?

LQ you need to remember though, churches is more than 50% smaller than PDCA, almost all clubs dont have juniors sides or programs, dont have clubrooms or social clubs and excet a few none are connected or affiliated with footy clubs.

Players arent paid top coin to come to our league, no incentives unlike PDCA, of course we will struggle to attract players of the calibre running around in div 1 PDCA, but it is a very enjoyable, close knit, community cricket assoc :P

Point taken then mate, I just recalled there was a fair amount of comparisons going around between the two comps last season IIRC.

Chris Hughes is playing at Kilburn now i think? (could be wrong) Was having trouble with his back in our comp so was only good for very short spells.

He used to run pretty hot and cold

I remember playing him in an a3 grand final years ago and he was running pretty hot back then..
When did he go to kilburn phantom?

That would've been after he cleaned us up in the semi, mind you, we had two SACA umpires who had no idea about hard-wicket rules, two of our first 3 wickets that fell late on day 1 were out to balls that hit stitching on the matting and skidded along the ground, one bowled, one LBW.
We did have the better of him a couple of times though, if we found the boundary early a couple of times he would drop off dramatically. He could definetely bowl though, we used to stir him up knowing that he'll come out firing but he'd lose his radar at the same time.

What is going on with the draw for this season and the gradings as well?!?! We are now half way through Sept and got no information, its pretty ordinary and how can we as a competition expect to compete with the other assoc if we can't even get simple stuff finalised until the last minute???

PDCA is no different mate, it isn't that easy though, I'd rather wait that bit extra and get it pretty close to accurate than to get it early and have it change multiple times. We have 57 players on our books and don't know whether to go 3 or 4 teams, I'm sure a lot of clubs are in this boat, we were in a similar position last year and struggled to field 3 sides around Christmas.

You may want to bookmark this page..as I am actually defending the exec !

I don’t think it could have been done any sooner, as the AGM was not until the End of August, to coincide with the end of local footy. This year there was a new one day comp proposed, which would have made it hard to assign grades, not knowing what teams would play in what Div. There are always new teams coming and going also, which would make it hard to finalise in any year.
Perhaps, to avoid future frustration, nominations should close well ahead of the AGM (lets say mid - July), with final gradings announced at the AGM at the end of August, and subject to change before the official season start.

Perhaps you are right BB, but the way i see it, most sides should be graded easily i mean teams like Paralowie, PV, 'Roys, NEK, Adel Luth you would assume would play div 1, then move the premiers up a div and spooners down.

I think end of August is far too late for an AGM anyway! You are leaving yourself barely a month before the season and as you said if new teams come or teams leave etc then you are cutting it fine with time to ammend problems.

IMO the AGM should be at least at the start of Aug, finalise minor details i.e. how many grades? max teams per grade? set up of grades eg 1 dayers, playing calender etc. Then send the information back to the clubs who should be given until say start of Sept (4 weeks) to nominate sides for the season and grades they would like.

Obviously there will be times when things may still change, and some clubs may not know how many sides they will have but i think if you have say 57 players listed then your playing with fire nom 4 sides because very rarely will all those people play every game for the season.

Yes, but when you have only 2 or 3 unavailable, there is 20+ missing out, this happened to us a few times last season, there is no right or wrong answer.
