Games to be Moved from Adelaide Oval in 2007

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby FlyingHigh » Sat Oct 14, 2006 6:18 pm

Agree Troy, it would be a good opportunity for each club to have at least one country game.

Also agree with those who reckon we could spend money in better ways than doing up Thebby in a big way. Hopefully some small improvements if there is still going to be 2-3 games there a year.

How about Alice Springs for a difference. Wouldn't be as hot as darwin in winter??

Still reckon Adelaide Oval is the best neutral venue option, so hopefully will be up and running for finals.

At the very least all Thebarton needs is a scoreboard, a timeclock and toilets closer to the ground.

Hopefully footy continues at Adelaide Oval. Only another year and my membership becomes available. Can't blame SACA for renovating. Long overdue.

Time to give Adelaide Oval the arse the way they treat the SANFL and keep games away from this hole. Leave the dog of a place dormant in the footy season and laugh as the SACA go bankrupt I say. Thebby Oval, come on down..........

That would take a lot of money to get the ground up to scratch if you were to play there reguarly. Scoreboard, work on the general facilities including grandstand, toilets, canteens etc. At the moment it's only good enough for a game every now and then. Don't get me wrong I think it's a great idea but is it financialy viable wedgie that is the question you have to ask yourself. Adelaide Oval is heaven to watch our great game from, and every ground needs a facelift from time to time. The SACA has to do the work and after all the ground's main purpose is for cricket so ofcourse there going to do the work needed in cricket's off season. I think it's a little far fetched of you to be saying give the hole the arse. Mate it's a great ground and it would be a tragedy not to watch sanfl footy there.

And improvements in the players change rooms. Eagles ressies players ducked off to the Aquatic Centre after their game against Glenelg so they could have hot showers. It wouldn't take a lot to make Thebby league standard because the oval itself is magnificent and the terraces are fantastic all around the oval.

With Adelaide Oval out of action for part of next season, I would like to see a couple of country games and the rest of the games played at the home grounds of the teams playing. I don't like the idea of neutral games at Norwood or Thebarton unless the Eags are involved. I hope they just play the finals next year at Football Park if Adelaide Oval is not available.

I like the country zone game idea suggested by TroyGFC.

What about the main arena at Wayville Showgrounds while Adelaide Oval is out of action?

I think it would be better to spend money upgrading the existing home grounds than to spend it on Thebarton.

Why cant footy be played there while renovations are done??

If you can play AFL football at the MCG while a giant 3 tiered grandstand is being built why cant they play sanfl... crowd of say 3000 at adel oval??

probably because they are digging up the oval after the rugby 7's competition to lay pipes :D

Norwood Oval for neutral venue night games, preferably when the Redlegs are on a bye or no NFC league match is programmed. Thebarton Oval for everything else and bring back the country fixtures.

Everybody's happy... to some extent.

At a guess there would be probably 8 or 9 matches that would need to be moved from Adelaide; that would be going on a time frame that would see matches not there until say August.

I think all suggestions on here should be taken into account in this way:

-4 country venue matches
-2 at Norwood neutral matches
-2 at Thebarton neutral matches
-1 at Wayville - perhaps as Wests' replacement for an Adelaide oval match

Personal Post

Anzac day becomes interesting fixture - A home game at Elizabeth for the Dogs or a home game at Woodville for Eagles?

Neutral game at Thebby??? or Eagles home game at Thebby???

Will not having a game at Adelaide hurt the SANFL??
A minor round game for Footy Park??

After the march of our Diggers no footy nearby - any solutions???

Put it on Adelaide oval #2 and let everyone in for free, what a promotion for the SANFL with the diggers and crowd already in Adelaide.
