Rumour has it that Morialta will have another bowler in their B grade that will help them immensely... not sure if it will happen though. Even though he complains he is getting to old to play, im sure he would still rip my head off with a bouncer if he tried... even off his short run ;)

Have any clubs looked at trial games before the season starts?

Ecky is there a date for kick off for the season? Will it be the weekend after the Oct. long weekend?

Yeah we play Western Knights in a couple of 20/20's. As alot of their lads played at Fitzies its a good occasion to catch up over a BBQ and a game of cricket. If your after the seasons detail Phantom check out the churches website, cant remember what it is but Ecky has written it down somewhere. You started training yet Phantom?

I was wondering what the early favourites are for premiers in each div.?

Also how does the one day comp stack up compared with the rest of the comp?

I would say it would look something like:-

Div 1 - Reigning premiers Para Vista would have to be the early favorites, simply the Geelong on the SACCA lol, always there around the mark.

Div 2 - Should be a beauty, Rose Park coming down will add strength depending on who they retained from last year. Seaton have a couple of handy cricketers but i expect Western XI to be the biggest chance this year. AC blues will make up numbers and Enfield/Central Mission battle for the last finals spot..

Div 3 - Eastside will again be up there, Para Vista 'B' and NEK 'B' are the other favorites with the bookies :P

Div 4 - Hard to go past Enfield C grade. Brooky Pk a smoky..

Div 5 - Para Vista

The A Grade look like it will be a good competition this year, the only one who may struggle would be Morialta depending on who they actually have playing this year.

Vista's will win though... although im biased 8)

I was gonna buy this M.Bedgegood dude of 'Parts Unknown' with a 2-for-1 Whopper voucher, but apparently the aforementioned player absconded with said voucher before it could be 'cashed' by the Club, so the auction wasn't legitimately sanctioned.

My early tips are for Millsy and Jon Smith to have big years with the willow, Scooter to top the wicket-takers if he plays all matches and Plucca to be in the Top 5 bowling aggregate too if batsmen play for spin once again... ;) 8)

Fitzies A's will challenge for a GF berth but it will depend on whos available to bowl. The batting is the strength of the clubs A grade and with better batting depth this year should be able to cover any outs/injuries/weddings/CBF's.

My top four will be in no particular order Para Vi$ta, Fitzies, Mawson Lakes North and North Eastern Knights. The beauty of Div 1 this year (and prob last year too) is there's 4 or 5 genuine contenders.

Churchbet has the following odds : As of September '09

Para Vi$ta $1.00001 ....
Pawawowie $2.99 With new recruits would surely have to be around the mark
North East $3.50 Batting really strong, Bowling rely on 2 gun bowlers
Fitzies $3.50 Autoless but still in the hunt

Lutheran $6.00 Should be pushing for a finals berth
Methos $8.00 have lost some players so a bit of an unknown team

I did this at the Roys a few years ago, the rules being you had to pick yourself, a coupla batters, a coupla bowlers, an all rounder and a keeper and nominate a captain. Good fun for a few weeks until the effort to add up shiploads of numbers outweighed the minimal enjoyment recieved......

its gonna be one of the closest Div1 for some time i feel.
NEK really shook it up last year - deserved the flag but werent finals ready like vista was (mind you 200+ partnership helps too!).
Lutheran will stengthen it up too. Rose park down to div 2 has been some time coming, but it will serve them better in the long tun. lets se if they have the hunger to get back up.
i predict it will get down to the last game for final spots, with 3 teams fighting to avoid relegation. Top 4 would be NEK, Vista, Paralowies, Fitzies.....
With only 10 games this season.....every game and every run/wicket is important.
Fitzies will play as long as possible on every day, so be warned boys. No early days aginst the roys.....regardless of weather.

Auto....PS: u still suk. :) gonna miss u behind the stumps son.
