Will be a loss for your side, what were their reasons??

They trained the week before last, haven't given a reason as yet, yes it was unexpected. One of them missed most of last season through injury, his pace will be lost, the other hasn't exactly set the world on fire with his batting but is still pretty handy at the top of the order.
He doesn't score big scores, but he values his wicket and looks solid.

You will miss the bowler more so than the batsman but I heard you have picked a few players up, are thay A grade players or lower grades??

2 A grade walk up starters, 4 that should be around the mark. If Newman plays it will make things pretty interesting.

You should have a good season then, you will finish higher than last season and give finals a shake, you guys could be a smoky for the flag if you get things right and the young guys get better.

Yeah, we've just got to keep going with the young fella's we have a lot of talent between 15 and 19, we have a few more players saying they might come out, until I've seen them or they're signed up I take it as gospel. How are you guys tracking? Similar boat.

Training has been solid with at least 30 at each outdoor session, indoor sessions we had about 20, like you guys we have a lot of good kids coming through the ranks and hopefully we will blood a few in the A grade this season so us old blokes dont have to play A grade anymore, its past me by. We have a few new faces that could play A grade this season but will probably start in the b grade. plenty of players to pick from so thats a good thing, it may pull a few out to training if they are not playing in the grade they think/want to play.
Only a week to go and hopefully our A grade can play finals again this season, the B grade have a better year than last season and the C&D grade play finals again.
You guys had Alex alphabet out to training yet??

Yeah, he has a decent bit of late curve, it will be interesting to see how he goes, his brother is captaining our B's. We're trying to make more incentive to play A's for players, we get too many sand-baggers that want to stick to B's.

He is a decent player for his age, we have him a couple of games in the A grade last year and he done ok, probably would of played finals for us in the A grade if he trained a bit more. he should be able to push for a spot in your A grade this season.

We started incentives last year for A grade players only for the first time last season, it worked pretty well, wasnt a lot on offer but we have changed it a bit this year to reward players that actually do something decent, last year you only had to score 10 runs to get some reward, this year I think you need to get 30 runs before you get rewarded but the incentive is better. The same goes for wickets and fielding/catches/run outs etc

Our awards are pretty good already, but so are the lower grades, we're looking at not having to pay ball fee's for A's and getting lunch supplied. Another one is that you can only play in the 20/20 if you are willing to play A's.
Yes, Alex has loads of potential, I'll be working closely with him to use that in a positive way and to curb his enthusiasm. We have 5 or 6 kids in the same age bracket that are pretty level in ability, we really need them focussing in the correct channels.

Have you guys got an U16 this season?

We also have awards for all grades but offer more incentive to A grade than the lower grades and then players want to play A grade if they are good enough.
We supplied afternoon tea about 2 seasons ago for us and the opposition but we stopped doing it because whenever we played away the opposition didnt do afternoon tea, so now we supply our own for us, we play $1 a week for it, not a lot of money really!

Yeah, I'm coaching them, it looks as though the comp is going to die in the ar$e though, only 3 sides, our kids aren't too bothered either way.

Thats dissapointing I am hoping it goes ahead as our boys a real keen. We have had them training with the seniors as most of them play senior cricket anyway.

Westies aught to be stronger this season than last, and our B grade in div 2 should make a good show of themselves. Would be surprised if they miss the finals actually. Numbers very good for preseason training, over 70 different faces thus far and you always get more who rock up selection night and put themselves up. Should be a great season, and looking forward to it.

We have them training with the seniors aswell, all but one of our 15's last season played seniors last season so it makes sense. I hear you have a young fella from Salisbury North out for your 16's.

Waterhouse and Tonkin where good players. Simple reason is we dont pay out any cash but we have a lot of young kids coming thru. Last year in games we had 9 guys under 23 playing a grade at times and all contributed at different times. They just dont have any 'name' yet! We will be around the mark again for finals if the kids improve.

Honda07 it's all good and well for the kids to play A grade but don't we all play to win premierships!!!! Brahma need to get off the one man band wagon to be a real contender until than i can see them being around the mark without being a real threat!!!

Our biggest problem over the years is that we've blooded kids for ages and then they start chasing skirt or choosing cricket as their 2nd sport. It's hard to keep them interested, there's only a few that have continued playing uninterrupted over a long period of time.
We've got plenty of talent in the 20-25 y.o bracket that just don't commit for full seasons.

Sometimes if the one man goes the others need to step up and then the club/players are forced to take the next step. tough call.
