HUUUUUGE difference in standard, just look at sides like northern wolves - average low grade sides in PDCA, came to churches and dominated.

if there was a adelaide turf team or 2 in and around eliz, pdca would be the same as churches.. pdca has been lucky not to be to close to another comp..

Groover, are your scores right? Below is what is listed on the my cricket website.

ATCO 228 (Sutton 108, Marks 85; J.denEngelse 3/37, Demeo 2/36) v Salisbury North 0/22

Was interested because with 2 blokes making 193 out of 223, doesn't leave much for the rest.......

Also keen to know if Cauchi did get 5 for, thought he was mainly a batter and barely bowled.

My scores are correct but i was off with the bowlers, misread the book.

I played in that game :'( humilitating!!

Bowling wasnt too bad but the batting from both sides was worse than awful!!! ps score was 65-41, looks like a bloody netball scoreline!!

Wow that's even worse  well not by much......

What grade were Paralowie in before they moved to Churches? How do they go in the Churches league?

we were in div 3 para districts with an average side when we went to churches we were put in div2 and went through underfeted but saying that we picked up a few players that would've seen us go very close to taken out div 3 in para districts.

saying that there is no doubt that para districts is a much stronger comp no doubt but div 1 in churches is getting alot better still no where near div1 para districts but getting alot better. i believe the main diff is the depth of each side in churches each div1 side has 3 maybe 4 true div1 cricketers where para districts has maybe 7 or 8???? just my opinion
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

I think with Penfield the lure for players is lower because they are only in B3. If they were a bigger club in the A divisions they may possibly be able to draw some of the PDCA players there. Also, cash would be an incentive, and I'm not 100% sure but I don't think they pay players.

I think Ingle Fram qualifies as being in the local area - oh and lets not forget a club called Northern Districts, who probably take the cream of the North 8)

I would agree Para Districts is alot stronger than Churches. Para mostly have clubs which are located within community clubs/football clubs. You guys have juniors. And you dont get the competition from turf. Only 2 clubs in Churches are based out of community clubs (most play out of schools or local reserves) and no club has juniors. The 2 Comps are fundamentally different IMO.

You can't really count the Northern Districts as they don't continually poach players who are already settled in to the Para Districts competition. The ones who go to the Jets are the young players coming through the ranks. Ingle Farm is an exception, as from memory this year was the only big influx of players from the Para Districts to them (from Two Wells). Catchit is right, there is no real competition to the Para Districts comp. Other comps like Churches have to compete with teams from the ATCA, and it appears that the level in these smaller comps is affected as most would prefer to play at a higher level in the Turf comp.

You have to hand it to some of the clubs around though, if you drew a 5km circle from Smithfield and look at the clubs that are around.
Smithfield: 3 senior teams, 4 junior teams, 1 womens.
Angle Vale: 3 senior, 4 junior.
ATCO: 4 senior, 3 junior, 1 womens.
Craigmore: 4 senior, 4 junior, 2 womens.
Eastern Park: 3 senior, 5 junior.
Playford: 4 senior, 1 womens.
There are many options for players living in the area, it is credit to all of these clubs to be able to field such an amount of teams with all of the competition that is available.
It's very similar for the likes of Salisbury West, Salisbury North, North Pines, Brahma Lodge, Parafield Gardens and Paralowie aswell.
The PDCA wont die in the ar$e because the clubs continue to find ways to keep the players coming, I've been impressed with the way that the PDCA has maintained it's service to the clubs since Franks passing.

In all honesty, with the removal of Sandy Creek, Two Wells and few of the other higher grade sides, the PDCA is starting to look a little "lean" :?
