There would have to be many!
One of the worst rides ive seen happen on saturday at morphetville, ben hoppo aboard accost in the open sprint. got to the turn and realised he had the stick in his right hand, before he even hit the horse tried to change hands with the whip, got tangled up and lost all momentum and threw away the race! he is a dud! cost me a packet. im sure you lads would have loads of similar stories!

agree scoob - he's a shocker, for some reason Sweeney likes him and has taken him under his wing - he rode my horse once and rode it upside down and was very unimpressive in the mounting yard when chatting to us. I know the owner of Accost so will get the inside story on what occured after the race, knowing Kenny he would have let the lad have it!

Matt Nielsen rode our horse at Cheltenham one Saturday and it was 2 lengths ahead with 50m to go, looked over his right shoulder and saw no horses coming so stopped whiping only for a Hayes horse to come up the inside and beat us by a nose...he didnt see it coming

we never won a Saturday race...not happy as in prizemoney ($14,000 to the winner) and the punt (14/1) he cost me personally nearly $2,000-

still got it on tape and still think its going to win 20m out!!!!

I know AG liked the ride by the pumper on OSJ in the Caulfield cup, busted a gut to lead then rolled off the rail on the home turn to allow aqua damore the gun run! HAHA he was not a happy chap!

is BENNY HOPPO an apprentice??????

if so that would be the reason why SWEENEY likes him, SWEENEY likes all his apprentices until they out ride their claim and then he doesnt want to know about them.

Luke McCarthy is in my book, butchered slipnslide last week (goes back from barrier 4) has the same horses drawn inside today and goes forward, leads and wins - amazing what a good drive can do.. wins you races... But this bloke gets more horses beaten then he wins on...

As for the worst drive ever - goes to BRAD SCAFFIDI!! Drove this R0 horse (a horse that had never won a race before) at Globe one day and had the heavily backed $1.60 fav outside him... when the favourite went for the lead Brad held him out and they went a 43.1 lead time over 2230m (lets take this into perspective, the quickest lead time ever is only 42.7 (from what I can find) and he is on a maiden..) Only got beaten 55m - came back and said the favourite was to blame, it got beaten 2m into 2nd.. yeah - great drive Brad...

Or the night late last year when Brad Scaffidi was on a horse that is trained by his dad and is trialling currently... he sat 4 wide for the 1st 600m, went back to last sat in for 200m and then was 3 wide the rest of the trip, beaten over 40m... the best bit was watching his dad walk back to the stalls with over a lap to go shaking his head....

You mean the night he won on a 20/1 horse from another 20/1 horse and the stable mate 3rd at 60/1 - trifecta paid $6,522 - yes it's true they couldn't pay the owner out on course, because he had won over $9k... but that was a one off good drive, the bad ones are about 7 to 1...

like the day on a 2/1 on fav at Kadina, it galloped, missed away 25m.. he was 3rd turning for home, go inside or out.. goes to the inside, gets held up and runs 5th beaten about 10m.. if he goes the outside he wins.. oh do I have some Bradley Scaffidi specials...

MT - done your homework I see.. good call - credit is due here to B Scaffidi, he did a good job to get a horse like that away and winning a couple of races..

Still doesn't make up for all his bad drives... like the day at Globe when SCD had backed a trotter called Beaver Brown.. led turning for home at 30/1 and B Scaffidi... still 6m clear with 50 to go when he got keen threw the reins and whip and his jocks at a risky trotter and made him gallop.. got beaten on the line... another case of incompetence..

Glen Boss on board fav Racing to win last saturday. 3 wide the whole trip and gone at the 600m mark and then blames the horse for his shocking ride. $3:50 fav gone at 600m !! That was my worse ride of the day last sat.

Did anyone see the first at Gloucester park saturday night?? Riewoldt at $15 moved up pass the odds on fav with 30 metres to go and then the driver hit him with the whip and he gallops and runs second. Was in the queue!

What's wrong with making your move behind a 200/1 chance at the 1200?? :D

reckon it was closer to the 2000...read a quote from him saying 'it was hard to just the pace of the race compare to the racing in the UK'- WTF? he has been touted as the best jockey in the world- and he couldnt judge the pace of the race?!?!? go back to ireland you hack!!
