Well why did he leave in the first place, would I be right in assuming he got a clearance from PTCC to PGCC early last season then one from PGCC to EECC. This season from EECC to Paralowie then one from Paralowie to Smithfield and now wants one from Smithfield to PTCC.
That is stuffing a fair few people around, it's not that hard to make up your mind where you want to play and commit for the season.
We will not hold up the clearance if he is allowed to return to PTCC, look at it from our point of view, our C's that are majority kids are playing against clubs A grade, they copped a barrage of short balls on the weekend and got right royal send-offs when they were dismissed. I'm all for clubs trying to re-group and get themselves back up the grades but there's got to be some sort of screening prior to the seasons begining to determine what grades clubs should be in, there's at least one club rorting the system every season, no wonder average Joe doesn't want to play anymore.

LM, you are not referring to your C grade guys who played North pines on the weekend and your ex opening A grade bowler taking 6 for? Poor form if so by them, fancy a A grade side giving some C graders who are generally there for a bit of fun a sending off. Ruins cricket for those people, I can see why some quit too.

It's all in here a few pages back, we lost our A grade opening bowler from last season to North Pines this season, they didn't apply for his clearance until the programs had been finalised despite them knowing he was going to be playing out there for a couple of months. Looking at the results from the weekend they have a couple of other very handy players to slot in nicely into grade 5.
Para Teachers are heading down the same track, Elizabeth East had their best team playing C's for them a couple of seasons back while their A grade struggled. Everyone wants to point the finger and whinge about everyone else, they should just be realistic and reasonable when it comes to gradings. Two Wells have been given tough guidelines if they get players back, the rules should stick no matter who you are.

at the end of the day it is up to the clubs concerned to work that out - how do thet want to paint themselves - as a progressive club that strives to be the best in the highest grade or a bunch of glory seekers in the lower grades

Every club has them and if they dont fix it then what happens is a core group all leave and you are left with not a lot

I know The Lodge have had problems with this in the past and as a result basically lost a side this season but the club as a whole will be much stronger in the years to come as they have taken the hard decisions

Exactly, a couple of years ago when North Pines were getting flogged they asked to be put down an extra grade or two, they haven't requested to be pushed back up now they are re-gaining some players.

What happened was the club the club was losing players on a regular basis and it was becoming increasingly harder for the club to fill sides, along with players not paying subs and ball fees it turned pretty bad for the club. Along with that the players were not a fan of the ex president of the club, he did nothing for it. Unfortunately the club decided that they didnt want to have to worry about fielding 4 teams every weekend so they scrapped the rest, Trav was unlucky that he was playing a higher grade at the time and the option to play Grade 5 was not given to him for obvious reasons. I will say though, its not just Trav there are a couple of life members that were pretty dissapointed that they were pushed away from the club and told basically come back in three years when we are able to put higher grade sides back in the comp. The whole situation was handled pretty poorly and its guys like Trav who want to get that club back on its feet. I guess he just hasnt found a home anywhere else and thats why he has gone from club to club. In honesty i think Trav is a great guy, his heart is in the right place and i really hope he can get that club back up to where it was a few years back, its dissapointing to see the point its at now being an ex player of the club.

Cant give you the exact score from Grade 3 game but I do know the lodge are in a dominant position after bowling wasleys out and batting to get 70 odd runs ahead and declare after days play.

Also, T20 was a success on friday night under lights. It took some time getting used to picking up the bright pink ball but wasnt too bad in the end and a great amount of fun was had by all.

The BL Footballers team smashed my mob, but so they should having 7 out of 11 A grade cricketers.

Groover was the standout with 40 odd with the bat, and taking the match deciding catch ;)

Trav's reasons for returning are genuine and we can accept that, what would be better is if he could gather what players he could get to return and then submit it to the PDCA and return to a grade in which they will be suited to. This probably needs to be done before a season starts and get players to commit. I know there is a team in grade 4 that really doesn't want to be there and will struggle to get numbers as the season goes on and Wasleys have been given no favours by playing grade 3. They could do an immediate swap.
I've played against PTCC for 20+ years and have always found them to be extremely competetive and have built good friendships with a lot of their players. It would be good to see them tough it out and start fresh.

It's going to be a very even grade 2 comp this season, finding consistent form will be the key to it, I don't think there will be any standouts and anyone who can make the finals would have an even chance of taking it out. Here is my thoughts team by team so far.
Eastern Park: I'd probably still have them as favourites atm, plenty of bowling options but their tail is a bit long, they need to dismiss teams cheaply.
Craigmore: A few solid older heads should see them always posting decent scores.
Playford: No doubt they'll be consistently inconsistent but still dangerous on their day.
Smithfield: Inconsistent aswell, should go alright when the team settles.
PGCC: Bowl a very tight line and length, very tempting to face but it's working for them so far, their keeper is outstanding aswell.
Central United: Very similar to us, young and old, will cause some headaches this season.
Riverside: the older cavaliers will ensure they post reasonable totals, they have a couple of decent bowlers aswell.
Salisbury West: A very young side that will undoubtably get stronger as the season progresses.

Was an excellent night, Not happy with the sportsmanship shown by the cricket team, almost got pushed over on my way off, thanks Browny

Hopefully there will be more teams joining, it is a good format, and on Friday night so playing under lights is an experience I haven't had before. Pink ball was a bit of a blur, so maybe go back to the white? Well that's my excuse, dispatch a big 6 then caught at mid off......

I am actually leaning towards Craigmore as the bolters of the group. I think they will win 75-80% of their games, so that should see them easily top, and have the experience in Howe and Elliot with the bat. Ones to watch will be Playford (if they can get last years form back), Smithfield if at full strength, and Eastern Park if the kids can get the runs. I did hear that Kenny McConnell is not playing anymore, shoulder can't hold up to the rigours. Big loss for EP, but enough in the bowling stocks to get them by.

Yeah, it's great getting back to the club and having kids filling me in about what they had to put up with during the day.
