Off SACA website..

The SACA is closely monitoring the weather leading up to this weekend’s cricket matches.

The SACA will be in contact with ground curators throughout the day, and a decision regarding matches will be made at 4pm today. SACA is confident that most matches will go ahead as scheduled.

Formal advice regarding senior, junior and women’s cricket will be available via the SACA website at 5pm today.

Watch ATCA go on the back of Big Brothers decision...

Given that most SACA grounds have almost full time curators and covers, ATCA should make their own call..
Some of the grounds will be slop if curators were able to get on them at all...

There hasn't been that much rain. I can understand in the foothills there being some difficulties but in the metro area wickets should be fine. The wickets might be a little green but you can't play on roads all the time. If they called off cricket after this much rain in England they'd never play.

Don't know what part of Adelaide you reside in Rod but where i was it rained "pissinstantly" for about half hour this morning...
That on top of what we have had all week and no sun, I think that most squares would be a tad more than green.....

Good decision in my view.....

Emergency Committee Decision for Saturday 17 October 2009

Last updated: Friday October 16, 2009 3:34PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ATCA Emergency Committee has had numerous discussions over the last few days regarding a decision as to proceeding with play on Saturday 17 October.

A decision has been made that play in all Senior cricket Premier A1 to C3 and Limited Overs competitions WILL NOT PROCEED.

The reasoning behind this decision is to err on the side of caution and we have considered the following

1. Player safety

2. The ATCA office has taken advice from a large percentage of clubs confirming pitches have not been able to be prepared

3. Damage to playing pitches at this stage of the season and the long term effect this may have as the season unfolds.

4. Damage to surrounding pitches and the playing square with the obvious traffic should games proceed.

5. The impact of the toss on the final result of the match should it proceed under dubious conditions.

6. The opportunity to reschedule the fixture (Premier A1 to C3) as a one day match on 24 October.

There will be disappointed clubs as a result of this decision but it was the view of the emergency committee that, at this early stage of the season, clubs reliant on pitch preparation outside of their direct control (Council/Schools etc) should not be placed at a disadvantage to clubs which have their own curators and ground staff.

The decision does not include ATCA Junior competitions at this stage. With the weather on the improve, if clubs have the facility and resource to be able to prepare a ground to stage a Junior fixture then it is to proceed as sceduled. The ultimate responsibility for Junior matches to proceed will fall to captains/coaches and umpires (should they be in attendance).

Many thanks to all clubs for keeping this office advised of their individual situations via the telephone and email, these decisions are not taken lightly and we thank the clubs for their understanding and support.

A message confirming this decision will also be placed on the recorded service (telephone 1900 950 598), please be aware a fee applies to access this service. I will also be in touch with radio station 5AA with a view to having the decision broadcast via this outlet.

there was a score in the LO.E where Adel H.O.S made 5/353 with one guy making a double century. Elders made 252 in reply, these games are 40 overs.

Yep, Shep made 216 with 18 x 6's from reports I've heard. Shep can play mind you, has made A1 century's for AHOS and also played a bit of A grade district for Port. Still, pretty fair effort.

Works shift work and can usually play only every second week. Believe me, he'd be playing A1's if he was available. Our A's are yet to make 216 in a innings yet - lots of work to do.

I reckon there would be a fairly decent size gap between a1 and a2. a1 is scattered with ex district players / state players

Keep an eye on Woodville South in A1 this year..
This will give you an indication..
They totally dominated A2 last year and approriately won the flag.
Their personnel has not changed much at all..

In my opinion they will just be middle of the road...
