Probably not the first thing "well taken" by Owen since he joined them ... United indeed

Despite Fergie playing it down, did anyone see Rooney's little tantrum in Turkey when he was substituted? Somehow reminds me of Roanldo's. Thin end of the wedge maybe ?

Lucky for Man U that Chavs have an 18 month ban on signing new players ;)

Park Ji-sung has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at Manchester United until 2012.

I guess this was always going to be the risk of signing an injury prone Owen

Michael Owen in line for swift Manchester United return as Sir Alex Ferguson allays fears of long injury lay-off
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Michael Owen should be fit for Manchester United's Premier League match with Bolton at Old Trafford on October 17.
It had been feared Owen would be missing for a minimum of three weeks after limping out of United's Champions League win against Wolfsburg on Wednesday with a groin strain.

By the very nature of who Man U is, Owen is going to find it tough going to keep injury free imo. He is already prone to injuries, and there are two key factors that will work against him. Firstly, Man U play and intensive style of football, and the players need to be super fit to keep up that intensity throughout the year. Particularly with such a hefty footballing calendar.

Secondly, everyone wants to beat United. I would think they must be the top side on everyones hit list, more so than any of the other top 5 sides. Defenders will raise thier game and go in harder against United, and that will work against Owen. Whilst his groin strain might only keep out for 1 week (that would be 15% of United's league game so far this year), meaning you can expect him to mis at least 7 games through injury this year, personally I would expect a much higher ratio considering who he is.

Oh dear. Fergie is at it again.... though something tells me that he will get away with his comments (notably, we only ever get this kind of crap from Fergusson when Man U have a bad day), when any other manager would be hauled before the FA.

Personally, I don't rate Wiley at all. He has been pretty ordinary in the games I've seen him officiate at Turf Moor and on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd put him well below 5. Fergie would get more credence in my opinion if he made a few less incitetive comments immediately after United had a bad day at the office.

Here's the story, thanks to the Daily Mail

Ref didn't add enough time and wasn't fit, rants Sir Alex

Sir Alex Ferguson launched into yet another timekeeping tirade yesterday and branded referee Alan Wiley unfit to referee in the Premier League.
Two weeks after Fergie controversially hit the jackpot in the Manchester derby when Michael Owen scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time, he was claiming Wiley ended the match too quickly as United were held to a 2-2 draw by Sunderland.

'I was disappointed with the referee. It took him 30 seconds to make a booking and he didn't add any time for the goals,' he said.
But it wasn't only Wiley's clock-watching skills that Sir Alex questioned - he also insisted the 49-year-old official is out of shape.
'He just wasn't fit enough for a game of that standard,' said the Scot. 'We have referees abroad as fit as butcher's dogs but it took him 30 seconds to book a player. I think he was doing it to take a rest. It was ridiculous.'
Ferguson had already had a heated row with fourth official Mike Dean over a rejected penalty appeal.

The United manager is renowned for his mind games, and his latest criticism may deflect criticism away from his team's performance.

I think that comment just about says it all really

i think he was saying this because they didnt get there usual added time on stoppage time to get the winner. Mind you they were helped out by an own goal from ferdinand. Funny tho that if Diaby during the Arsenal game at Old trafford and then yesterdays game where Man U would actually be on the table. It doesnt seem to be 'them'/ Man United winning all there games or getting over the line but more so the oppostion helping out.

united will be without Rooney and Berbatov this week so where are the goals going to come from.

Berbatov hasn't returned from Bulgaria, where his wife has just given birth.

Apparently they are going to call the little sprog Yids imov ;)
