No read again, I said I didn't hear anything, which is different to didn't know.

LOL You should read again i said lots of people wanted Hutton to get the boot ,and you said you dident know he got the boot which he dident then i asked you who got the boot and you said ron (thank god ) ;)

hey holden78, wake up to yourself and stop bagging Ron, it wasn't his fault they played sh!t. I would be questioning the board for being weak.
One thing Woodville/West Torrens have always had a weak board since the crows came in.......

maybe you should apply for the board and make some good decissions re recruiting......

I think that this may have changed since Slaven has been appointed Chairman. He and Davies are starting to make some hard decisions. Fuller / Jefferies / Rogers sacked, office staff made redundant.

Now lets get the recruiting situation changed and I think Holden may finally be happy........! Dare I say it? ;)

Pagey and Holden what makes you say the board has been weak and crap??

It cant be to do with the decision to put the club on Port road because that has been successful, there has been a steady increase in membership over the past few seasons and communication from the club to its supporters is excellent. As for recruiting over the years sure there have been some failures but there have also been some very good recruits represent the club over the past 19 seasons.
It has been said in other threads and publications that the success of our club over the past 10 years has probably been
overshadowed by Centrals being so dominant, I doubt we would have had any success if we didnt have a solid foundation at board level...just my oppinion though ;)
Trust the process.

Was an interesting player spelly....his form in the reserves leading up to his first league game with us was excellent and personally thought he might have been the answer to our backline problems...but talk about come crashing back to earth, it was sad to watch him get towelled that day and see his confidence go completely down the tube.

I will answer your question with a question ; Why isnt Fuller still coaching us ? He obviously still wants to coach and the club didnt really want him etc. etc. ............... so heres another question ...... Was he given one contract too many ? Maybe you have been too close for too long , its really just a hard , calculating decision ...... black & white . Or maybe Ron was really the Chairmans " boy " and was protected until this year . Just consider how dramatically different the whole landscape would be without the flag in 06 . Whichever side you take , I think all of us are really up for next year with Godden , except EHL , who may well follow Fuller at South ;)

If you were at the club champ show Holden im pretty sure I heard Ron say he thought the time was right for someone else to leave their mark on the place...i guess only Ron knows the real answer to your question though. Its probably a no win situation, leave on a high and maybe be criticised for not wanting to defend the title, leave after and be criticsed for being in charge of a team that couldnt maintain the rage. The fact that in 2004 the 21 players on the ground and the club in general took a belting but got back and had another crack the following year and were denied again but again stood up in 2006 and got the flag says a bit about everyone around the club from the board and players right down to the supporters.
2010 is a new beginning though.

There would be more of a chance of hell freezing over than that happening. You spruke so much shit holden you could run your own manure store. I love my Eagles and I will remain at Oval Ave until the day I die. Ron had many faults and I have never been one of his biggest fans but he also deserves some credit for the effort he put in. Bring on the Godden regime and c'mon you mighty Eags.

Well we cant afford to lose even one supporter at this stage , so put on your Wellington boots for another dance through the turds with us in 2010 ! The new boss is the type of straight up , positive type who given time will make a mark on this competition . I met him last night just briefly and he seems super keen which you would expect , but Ive got a feeling into his second year he will be top notch . That said Full Back still has me worried big time ! !

Heard today that Ken McGregor has just told the Eagles he's leaving due to work reasons.
I know someone else mentioned he might go in another post.

I hope my source is Very Wrong as that would make our backlines look very sad.

If true, not a good start to 2010.

Spot on the money BOP. Done deal and will be playing at Henley in the SAAFL while spending some time overseas early in the season. Work commitments a little too much to keep playing SANFL.

Re: Eagles signings for 2010

If the above is true, McGregor will be a loss but certainly not the end of the world.

Like many former AFL players who come back and play in the SANFL his form early on was dominant, almost as if all fitness required at that level carried across to the SANFL. But then as time wore on (and this AFL fitness dropped) I thought his form tapered off (from very high standard mind) so that he really didn't stand out above other SANFL players.

In fact I thought he had a couple of games where his lack of legspeed actually was costly and allowed his opponents to get away and kick a couple. Lets face it, when playing as backline player you could really only play him on 'static' forwards who didn't move around a lot. Anyone who was quick on lead would leave Ken floundering. What he did have though was a good ability to read the play and very smart in setting up the play when he had it. But I honestly thought his days a backline player were coming to an end.

For these reasons, if he is to play this year I would play him up forward as I still think he could be dangerous there.
