Who's on the Wagon

Postby Spiritof64 » Sat Dec 17, 2005 3:07 pm

Every year a band wagon turns up. Whose supporters will be on it in the 2006 season?

This is the worst poll I've seen since the last federal election.

South's bandwagon is a very large one, however, it doesn't go any further than 8 rounds...

South are absoulte rabble, & I will continue to say so until they prove otherwise. They have a history of not performing, you even admitted so yourself. Those 3/4 clubs you mentioned have been powerhouses, and the other is a current powerhouse. The biggest joke is that South have always thrown money around recruiting wise, yet for all this, haven't even played finals for over 10 years, and when they last finished top, they didn't even make the GF.

Port for mind, most clubs will get similar crowds to last year but with the Power in decline and the Magpies on the way up you watch them come out of the woodwork.
Not complaining though, good for the comp.

Not so sure Wedgie

Where were they finals time this year.

Perhaps if they are premiership certainties the bandwaggon will fill.

Despite a good win in week 1 they never really had a good record against the top teams, Port fans only rock up when they're extremely confident, they will be and should be in 2006.

Luckily for North fans it will be bearable as they're out bitches in the last couple of years.

I don't how/why anyone would pick North (unless its just inadaquacies with their own supporter base and they're expressing their jealousy over true fans), our crowds went down this year despite winning an extra game, we actually get better crowds to seasons coming off shocking years.
I'm not sure what the opposite of a bandwagonner is but that's North fans.
Having said that I swear we had the same crowds this year as last, less opposition fans seemed to rock up, must have been more scared of us this year! :D
Now that's bandwagonners for you!

Boy have you got a short memory. It's only the last 4-5 years that we've had the spare money to recruit. Before that we had a period of several years where we tightened our belts and recruited hardly anybody. (there may have been the odd recruit but they weren't getting big bucks).
A fair comparison would be the recent history of your own Roosters. If you expect other supporters to laud (look it up cretin - sorry I'm stooping to your neanderthal level) the efforts of your own club to get to where they are now, you'll need to recognise the similar tribulations and triumphs over adversity of other clubs.

I think there's a lesson to be learnt there, South were a better club on field when they had no money!

You'll have to excuse a lot of us Spirit (and its not just North supporters, its all people with a memory), a lot of us get the giggles when we still think back to May/June last year when South fans were talking premierships and grand finals.

Hit a raw nerve, did I? Facts are, no-one respects the South Adelaide Footbal Club. 5 players walked out at the end of the season. Most players recruited there, are there for coin only. The Past Players ticket was successful, which a lot of your supporters were concerned about, the implications of this will be seen over the next 3 years. There's been no stability with coaches, one of them allegedly sacked for something that is extremely unsavoury (I'm not gonna mention what or who, to save you & your club some embarrassment). Lack of finals appearances & general lack of success. These are the main bullett points, I'm sure others out there could add more.
I'm sure most would know that North were within $7000 of having to shut the doors for good, we've turned that around. At least we've always had some success- a flag in every decade bar 1, 12 Magarey Medallists for 16 Medals, Champions Of Australia in 1972, and played more finals football than South in the last 30 years (I could look it up to make it further back). North certainly aren't the yard stick of success, we need to aim higher, but I'd say we'd be the length of the Flemington straight in front of South. An erudite like yourself would understand that sledging me won't change the culture of your club, I suggest you vent your spleen at them- like we did to North in 2003.

Ok Punk, one point at a time

Facts are, no-one respects the South Adelaide Footbal Club. You may not - that's your prerogative (otherwise a generalisation, not by much and it will change)

5 players walked out at the end of the season. Name them and tell us why. Some players have left for various reasons as with all clubs. Your statement is incomplete and misleading. By the way North have lost 11 to our 6 according to another thread.

Most players recruited there, are there for coin only. That is a slander on Steven Kenna and Matthew Smith and others that are at our club because they love playing football and they chose our club to do it. It must be immensely gratifying that every player ever recruited by North was a paragon of football virtue.

The Past Players ticket was successful, which a lot of your supporters were concerned about, the implications of this will be seen over the next 3 years . Yes it is a concern. Time will tell.

There's been no stability with coaches CRAP. We've had 13 coaches since 1964 (That's counting Shane Butler who took over from Ken Sheldon for half a season.

one of them allegedly sacked for something that is extremely unsavoury (I'm not gonna mention what or who, to save you & your club some embarrassment). None of my business and wtf does it have to do with our discussion.

Lack of finals appearances & general lack of success. Working on it. But with the recent results of our juniors the league will be rezoning soon.

I'm sure most would know that North were within $7000 of having to shut the doors for good, we've turned that around. More credit to your club. It's a job well done. Pity South has never been at the liquidators door and had to relocate.........OH.

At least we've always had some success- a flag in every decade bar 1 That would include 1900 when you won your 1st flag. With a team full of South Players (including Dinny Reedman) that were forced to change clubs because the league did what?.... Changed the ZONES!!!!!

12 Magarey Medallists for 16 Medals, Champions Of Australia in 1972, and played more finals football than South in the last 30 years Yes but are you happy?

North certainly aren't the yard stick of success, we need to aim higher We all need to aim high except apparently South supporters because that would be getting ideas above our station and must be squashed.

An erudite like yourself would understand that sledging me won't change the culture of your club No but it made me feel better

I suggest you vent your spleen at them - like we did to North in 2003. Not necessary yet . Your situation then was critical and I hope we don't get to that stage again.

How many does it take to make a bandwagon?

Would South ever be able to muster up enough supporters to qualify?

I'm sure there's a 60 yo bloke who can pull the reigns as well as a bit of wood to make a cart down there. Might struggle to find a horse down at Noarlunga Downs though, probably get eaten before it can break into a trot down there!

From what I read North and Port will be improvers next season. Both were around the mark with only a slight adjustment needed. You get the feeling after last season the supporters at alberton are getting hungry for results to be chalked up. Weather timmy can deliver....? If they can win their early games, the crowds will come back. It's always good to beat port. A port bandwagon is good for the competition..!
Smile :)
