There has been a new niche open up for a few accountants - a Qld large GP medical group has recently hired a CA with computer skills as Practice Manager. Because they are a large group pooling expenses they can afford him. Unfortunately, I think the growth of this will be limited, because, although the federal government's policies have pushed amalgamations to form large groups, now that less graduates are prepared to go into GP work the groups are shrinking - they can't replace retirees and costs are killing those who remain in practice..

A few large corporatised groups will survive, however, possibly employing Nurse Practitioners to assist the remaining GPs, and they may pick up this trend to emply CAs to handle the complexities of dealing with Mediscare Australia..

I am also in IT - contract Project Manager. The best thing you can do in a small place like Adelaide is not only be very very good at what you do, but differentiate yourself. Every couple of years I will add another qualification and I have not been unemployed since I started contracting seven years ago. You are a product that needs to shine against the other products in the market.

Yeah it is a bit quiet this year, I not just last week got sacked from my job, a job I didn't have for very long as it was. So I'm looking again, it is hard not to get angry and frustrated over it all, especially when you see those damn eggs in one basket "theres more to it than that" Defence mining and technology propaganda, and then Media Rann is on TV with a hard hat telling everyone about some boom that probably isn't going to eventuate anymore. But I guess that is what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket hey Mr Rann, truth be told it isn't even that easy to get jobs in the areas the propaganda is made for,

God help you if you want to get into something else, though he won't, because he has the best Job security out of anyone in SA, I hear Paradise community church is doing well, eat at their restaurant. every bowl of soup has some Guy Sebastian pubic hair in it, I hear Mr Rann loves it like that.

If you really want a job, go crawl up the arses of the Paradise Community Church wackos, all it really is, is a business networking group anyway. If Jesus was alive now he'd trash that place New Testament style.

Or, failing all that, you've reached the bottom of the barrel, you could get a job in sales.

That's another booming job market. Wonder why Mr Rann doesn't put that in the "Theres more to it than you think" ads.

Here's my best guess:

- he lost his job last week (sorry to hear BTW)
- Mike Rann made false promises about mining and defence booms
- he lost his job in some industry related to these booms
- he hates Mike Rann for that and other reasons

I admit I am lost after that  Something about the Paradise Community Church and Guy Sebastian's pubic hair.
In between signatures .....

Things could be worse ... you could be this fella!

http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/stor ... 82,00.html

NEW father who has been unemployed for eight months has taken his job hunting to the streets - literally.

Enterprising mechanical engineer Clint Rule, 39, of Prospect, is setting up a fake office on median strips around town in the hope he can move into a real one.

He is stopping traffic with his desk, retro office equipment and a placard which reads: "Mechanical engineer, need a job, have own desk, Clint" with his mobile phone number along the bottom.

Anyone else in the same boat?

So annoyed right now.

Yes - and its annoying the sh*t out of me, am doing some casual stuff, but just want to get into it properly!!

Have had the same experiences as deja, with getting the response "sorry, didnt even consider you for an interview because you were so overqualified", so am finding it even harder now  .

After dozens of application that resulted in just the ONE interview have landed a GREAT job, that would be my choice of all the positions iI applied for even though it is far from the best paid.
This now means (even more importantly ;) ) my self imposed SAFooty ban is now completed and I can come back an chew the worlds fat again :D :D
