Coopers 62 Pilsner

Postby Wedgie » Fri Sep 04, 2009 12:17 pm

Anyone tried it yet, thoughts?
I'm looking forward to giving it a go this weekend as I love a good Pilsner.
The best beer West End ever made IMHO was their 107 Pilsner but it died a short death when they made it considerably more expensive than their run of the range swill.

Maybe Jimmy can get some for us all to 'test' ??? ;)
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

First I've heard of it. I like the Pilsener style, am very fond of James Squire and Matilda Bay pilseners. Didn't think much of the West End 107 to be honest. Will have to try out the new one tonight; thanks for the heads-up Wedgie.

Have tried it, and have it in stock today. Its good, in fact it may be the beer to finally drag some "other" beer drinkers over to Coopers. Fairly lightly hopped, it is a session beer and really easy to drink..... its a bit like a typical european lager but without the overpowering "smelly" hops. It is a bit pricey, at the moment there are some intro deals though @ $15.99 a 6pk or $50 a carton but expect the price to be a bit higher than that probably on par with Crown lager.

*Also keep you eyes out for a coopers lo-carb  later in the summer...they are trying to keep it under wraps  . In my opinion they have missed the boat in the lo-carb market, Hahn super dry is smashing pure blonde now, its a huge seller.

Matilda Bay is a beautiful drop. James Squire is quite nice too, but for some reason, it makes me fart like a trooper and the missus isn't too keen on me drinking it.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

No

Still haven't tried it, was at the show yesterday in a Coopers bar and noticed it in the fridge behind the bar just as the barmaid had started pouring my Pale. Doh!

Thank God for that - we use to call it penalty beer - any indiscretion such as a chunder was met with a call for skolling a stubbie of the stuff

Tried it in the sports bar below the main arena grandstand at the show on Saturday.

I don't like Pilsners to start with that much. This one is ok but not great.

Finally got to try some, bought a 6 pack tonight, on my 4th.
Its OK but it tastes more like a home brew than a Pilsner to me, has that slight Pilsner taste but I reckon as far as Pilsners go I preferred the one West End put out a few years ago.
This is different though and are going down nicely in this weather.

I picked up one stubbie only of the 62 at my local last week. It was OK but not what I'd call good.
I got a good price on a carton of Peroni [Nastro Azzuro not the Leggera] yesterday..
