Schwarze - the only thing that worries me is that he is still friendly with a number of the Eagles players, including the leadership group.
Whilst it is tempting to gush over a player who can kick 8 goals a game, his efforts over a season were not value for money. He also set a poor example to some of the younger blokes and is immature as a person. No value despite the new coaching panel - Schwarze will always find somebody else to blame.
Eagles still a bit light for onballers and I hope we can attract some ball magnets, our previous coached loved to play 'back pockets' as onballers so I look forward to some developments here. Skippy has other priorities before us so we cant wait for him forever (probably not the player he was prior to leaving) and Shirley is confident of getting a gig in Melbourne so I am sure the Eagles are working on strengthening our on-ball division.

I think he realises what hes lost now , and with Godden in charge , could be ready to stop wasting his talent if put in the correct enviroment ......... worth a punt I would think !
Premiers wrote:Schwarze was a disgrace with his refusal to chase after one effort at the ball - had a demoralising effect on the remainder of the team (acknowledged by Ron Fuller) so we don't want to revisit that situation again. Anyway, Schwarze wasn't happy when the Eagles offered him a reduced contract fee, sending him to North and he would command much less now so no-one is likely to accommodate him.

Patience lads , the GAYFL drafts have to pass before any " names " can be secured , but the Eagles are already manoeuvring far more ominously then in any of the previous 3 off seasons .Quick history lesson , for 06 we recruited Jarred , Dobba , Grocke and Cooper ; finished minor premier and won flag easy ! Each year is different ofcoarse , but the club and Fuller didnt stick to a blueprint that worked and we have dropped of the pace ! It aint really that complicated . ;)

I remain unconvinced. Only Parry is a proven player and we carries a lot of baggage with him to the club. Hope the coach is strong enough to discipline him if he starts playing up again.

The other two players are a reserves player from another club and an amateur league player. How many of these types have we signed in the last few years without one being any good?

The jury must still be out on our recruiting until we gain the services of 2 quality midfielders

That would be a huge surprise. Although I won't get too excited just yet. I'll wait for the official confirmation email from the club - if it comes.

Good to see the club spending up to make sure the list is good for Micky G. Hope to see him make a good fist of the job. As long as he loses to the bloods :D .

i must say i am finding the type of players the eagels seem to be signing quite surprising as tehy seem to be strengthening areas they are already resonably strong in.

they must suspect dabrowski to retire other surely getting parry is a relative waste of time as the improvement between dabrowski and parry wouldnt be as big to the team as the improvement gained by upgrading one of your lesser midfielders.

signing welsh is also interesting as i would presume that one of salter or schulz will be with teh eagles full time (maybe both for quite large periods) and ive always felt grocke is quite a good chf so once again surely a midfielder or a defender wouldve been able to provide more overall improvement to the first team.

just my opinion though from the couple of times i see them each year

According to todays Tiser this may be a possibility due to increased work commitments with SAPOL.

I believe Dabrowski wants to join the STAR Force, so a bad footy injury would most probably rule him out of the next intake.

Would love to see Adam Grocke play at CHB, would give much needed run.

As blacky said, Welsh was after a substantial amount of $$$ and Westies refused to pay! Eagles on the other hand, were happy to!
Could welsh play the roaming half back role as he did for the bullies last year?

Welsh played for Westies a year or so ago when coming back from injury and absolutely killed us off the wing/half forward.....

I would imagine he will be in the forward line to kick goals.....

Apart from the wages, that's some pretty hefty transfer fees the Eagles will be up for. Between Parry, Welsh and Day there wouldn't be much change out of $50,000 I wouldn't have thought.

He is best suited to a midfield position at this level i believe.
