Aerie wrote:Elliott - must be given one more chance to make a big score and needs to make one
Harris - give him a chance, he's shown promise and shouldn't have been dropped for this game
Blewett - he's shown form at Kensington, he deserves inclusion
Cosgrove - let him blossom with experience around him
Lehmann - one place higher up the order, him and Cosgrove can set up a game on the first day
Borgas - has been more impressive than Ferguson, but not a state number 3 yet
Deitz - his hundred gets him the keeping spot ahead of Manou who needs to step down for the better player at the moment
Cleary - a good player and adds depth to a suspect batting line up
Gillespie - class keeps his spot
Bailey - has secured his spot in the team
Tait - SA's only strike bowler is a must

Those on the outer:

Cullen - unless an absolute green top, I'd have him and Bailey in the same team at the expense of Cleary and he's an automatic inclusion as soon as he gets back from Australian duties.
Rofe - unlucky to not be in the 11, but would be the first pace bowler picked if a spot becomes available
Ferguson - just needs to keep making runs, but especially needs to score hundreds instead of 40's and 50's
Manou - gave up his spot to Deitz in the first shield game and shouldn't have got it back. Two failures and he should be back in the queue.
Adcock - it's sad Grade cricket hasn't produced any player better than Adcock who has been SA's 8th best batsman forever.

I think you have got it pretty much spot on there Aerie. Some excellent points.

i wandered down to adelaide oval yesterday to watch the last days play.

Victoria batted too long in the morning and took the game out of SA'S reach in terms of an outright victory.

our batsmen went out there with the attitude to play for the draw and that showed in a couple of the dismissals. the only good patch of the day was when BOOF walked to the crease and from the first ball tried to play some shots!

we cant defend and save games as batsmen we need to go out and ATTACK.

if they are going to lose it would have been nice to be all out at lunch rather then keeping us spectators watching in pain.

Victoria will go places with there sensational bowling attack.

Ronalds spell of bowling was one of the best spells ive ever witnessed and i think MAL also liked the blistering pace in which he bowled with.

I think Lewis was happy to be reminded of that WORLD RECORD MAL

134??? Bwahahahaha. For the record, Victoria did not bat too long cos they won the game. Rather, SA couldn't bowl them out. Nice win by the Blueboys at the Gabba last weekend. Always nice to see the Bull5hit struggle, they've now lost two outright on the Gabba. Going to be a long season for them.

regards,

REB

Good to see Lachlan Stevens making a few runs for QLD over the week (and being a PURA Cup championship player last yr). He played 2 season with the Adelaide CC and 2 ING matches for SA a few years ago!
