SAAFL Division C5 (2010)

Postby BenchedEagle » Tue Dec 01, 2009 3:00 pm

Thought id better get the 2010 thread started.

So can any clubs confirm they will enter a C grade in 2010?

Elizabeth are in, with some great older players committed to having a great year.
The clubs pretty confident on having a really strong side in C5.
Also looking for as many triple headers as possible

PAOC have nominated for C5 as a D grade side. Had lots of guys miss out on games last year which was unfortunate but unavoidable, even with 7 on the bench in the C's. So we've committed to a D grade to keep guys around the club

The Lodge fielding one as well
triple headers are our preferred option as well
We too have a few old timers looking to dust off the boots - not sure we will be as strong as Elizabeth though ;)

I believe at this stage that 8 out of the Div 5 sides have nominated a C Grade

Our D grade played in C5 last year so I figure they will be again this year.

not if the 8 sides in Div 5 have a C Grade

D Grade sides will probably move down to C6

Obviously that's still to be confirmed but considering C5 is pretty much set in stone with 8 of the div 5 sides I don't see any harm in discussion...

Play on.. 8)

to make it easy - out of the Div 5 sides I believe it is Smithfield & Blackfriars who haven't nominated a C Grade side

they would probably leave it as an 8 team comp if it happens as it makes it easier to program or if they need to they will put other teams

Lets hope our C grade are put in C5 this year as we have nominated. Did the same last year and put us in C4, which was a bit annoying.

I would think with more Div 5 sides nominating C grade sides in C5, that the SAAFL would place as many together as possible. Love the triple headers!

i'm guessing that the majority of folk here like the reflective nature of the c grades.
in c1/c2 its getting increasingly harder to achieve this with sides like henley, athelstone, modbury, shoc, adelaide uni all nominating for div 7 - and it wouldn't surprise if tea tree gully did the same which rips holes in c1 and c2.

do people think that it should reflect the grade it's supposed to regardless of the number of teams eg those that are left after nominating for higher grades - which in c2 this year would see a six sided competition?

or do people think that sides with four sides should then fill these spots with their c grade?

or should there be a c grade division below div 7 with sides who wish to nominate two sides eg a division 8 again?

or other theories? i guess this is probably a new topic but was a little unsure how to do so - feel free.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Perhaps a Division 8+8R for all the clubs that can field 4 competitive sides (Mostly Div 1+2 clubs). No promotion/relegation

A smaller Div 7 would be necessary, but at least it would be all A grade club teams playing.

Clubs like Ovingham and North Pines that can only field 1 side join forces and one have a Div 7 spot and a Div 7R spot?

C1 to C5 reflect the C grades of respective sides in the senior division. The rest play in C6 the final grade

Rough Theory that has plenty of holes in it, eg where to put Adelaide Uni's sides, possibly no C1 or C2 due to Div 8 so dont flame me.

Hi - just back from the Victoria Secret show.....IQ is great - saw it 48 times before the clipsal tripped

We have 4 teams next year, and as a senior person in the club, I would prefer our C Grade to play as high up the C grades as possible so they play the better teams and players. This reduces the jump up the grades (ie) Cs to Bs. Our D Grade then becomes our nursery for 18-19 year olds whereas our C Grade was this year.

As for D7, I watched the GF last year between Henley and Paralowie(?) and I see no benefit for us in playing our juniors in a C/D grade like this - we just dont have the depth of 22 - 28 yo players like Henley.

There are different reasons for having the C & D grades and the League need to cater for both. I will have a bitch here. If Henley C Grade win a D7 premiership - they MUST go up a grade - ####### bullshit IMO

Stick 'em all in their own div, so they can play against each other

Think of all the clash jumpers they'll need ;)
