What it looks like is a slice of toast with unmelted butter that has been cut too many times.
Don't tell me you eat toast with unmelted butter?!! Don't say it's so JAS!
haha...like the article says...probably got their name either from being lined up on the plate like soldiers on parade or from the humpty-dumpty nursery rhyme but that's what everyone's always called them.
Although that's not my photo I sometimes have toast with melted butter but sometimes I like cold toast with unmelted butter just depends on my mood at the time. But when it comes to soldiers I agree with Pottsy...can't have soggy soldiers...kids have been known to riot over it![]()

Strewth, there appears to be a whole sub-culture to go with this.
Unmelted butter is just going too far IMO. What sort of mood would that be anyway? Sounds like you'd be pretty pissed off to want unmelted butter on cold toast. I could never imagine myself waking up in the morning and saying "f*** it I'm in a shitty mood! I want unmelted butter on cold toast!"

The sad bit is he wouldn't know that all those products you mentioned are just as closely assosciated with the AFL.
Wonder if he drives a Toyota?

Eh? The stuff just about leaps on to the toast, slips under the cheese and begs to be put under the griller, all on its own!

Not a 'shitty' mood at all theri. Sometimes I fancy hot toast and sometimes cold...each to there own. I actually prefer unmelted butter if I'm having marmalde on it as well.

Actually the funny bit is imagining what anyone would look like if they did indulge in all the AFL-affiliated products as listed by sjabc....
