In recent years the Redbacks have recruited some high profile duds.
Unlike a few decades ago when 3 of the greatest ever cricketers played here.

Started in Victoria, and yes in the good catergory for sure.
Manos was borderline, as from memory he did not excel and was closer to a dud.

I'd hardly call Kevin Wright a Dud, playing in a winning shield team and whilst not setting the world on fire with the bat, contibuted to the team and was a solid keeper arguably the 3rd best in the country 1980-82 behind Marsh and Rixon....

Another one well posetd MW.
He made about 160 not out in his first SA state game
It was first game of the year from memory,

Did Colin Miller ever really do anything with us? I remember him as only being average, didn't he only ever turn into a decent cricketer when moving to Tasmania, when he took up spin bowling??

Did Colin Miller ever really do anything with us? I remember him as only being average, didn't he only ever turn into a decent cricketer when moving to Tasmania, when he took up spin bowling??

Miller took 44 wickets (average 25) for us in 1989/90.

PS Another dud was Denis Hickey, and another who did OK (in one season I think) was Rod McCurdy.

We may have 'poached' Sir Donald Bradman from NSW
but they have avenged that by poaching Sir REB.

From what REB said on the forum he was born in NSW but lives in QLD now.

Whats the goss on Ahmed and Yagmic, are they recruits from recent years who never got past grade cricket, or do they go back to the 60's and 70's (before some of us can remember )

Dennis Yagmich was a keeper from WA [might have played a test in Packer era]
Yagmich was a fair keeper who did a job.

Younis Ahmed was a Pakastani test cricketer who played a year here and I think
his best effort was one half century as a batsman.
He had a big reputation.
Should have been sacked earlier but I think Don Bradman said to have him in the line up.
I think Coca Cola sponsored him for a $1 a run[cheap investment]
Played late 70s I think.
The biggest dud without doubt.

Younis Ahmed was a Pakastani test cricketer who played a year here and I think

He is probably best known for having the record for the longest gap between test appearances (in terms of tests missed): 104 tests between 1969/70 and 1986/87.

PS I just found his record for SA: 6 matches in 1972/73, 289 runs at 26.27

Not as bad as I thought.
At the time he was playing there was a lot of talk about his expectations
and his failures for SA.
