Have you tried contacting the SAAFL? They may have some of the info you're looking for..

To the best of my recollection some of the original clubs were,
Edwardstown
Flinders Park
Ferryden Park
Elizabeth
Ingle Farm
Port Districts
Athelstone

Clubs that joined later included
Henley
Tea Tree Gully
Modbury
Plympton

A lot of clubs flowed through the league and I reckon it all went bad in about 96.

Gepps Cross was in SAFA in the early 80'S. Played Div 2 won the flag and had 1 year in Div 1 before the coin dried up. Sent to Div 5 SAAFL in 84/85. Daryl Beale ex Richmond , Centrals coached the rams in SAFA. Poorka were the benchmark in those days.

Youre right BM they were, I remember a final in 1983 Payneham V Pooraka, played at Thebby Oval, A Pooraka bloke landed on my uncle and broke his leg in 3 places, was in plaster for about 5 months in total, the screws never came out...

Bealey also coached Elizabeth to an undefeated flag in 1986 in Div 2. We beat the dirty Hawk scum from Salisbury North. It was the day of Dave 'Jacko' Reeves revenge at Norwood Districts (as they were then called) home ground.

Used to love going to all those SAFA grounds. Was so much better than when we had to go to CDFA grounds!
