Who was the last tall spinner to play at the WACA? Pat Simcox???

Dont know about tall, but last two left arm spinners have done ok against us in Perth. Panesar & Vettori.
Wth CK saying Siddle out, we look vunerable.
Watson, Hussey wobbling. Punter, Marcus & Haddin hit & miss ATM. Clarke solid.

Steve Smith in and Hauritz out i think, they just said on 5aa that Horry injured his spinning finger batting in the nets today

Only covering at this stage i think! May not get a game anyways, they could go with the 4 quicks and rely on North as the spinner

Steve Smith and Not Jason Krezja
Unbelievable selection
Good batsman yes
Smith at this stage of his career is an erratic leggie for a test match, the WI will obliterate him if he plays

I guess the selectors feel neither Krejza or Smith will play a major part with the ball so they have gone the spinner that can bat alot better yet still chip in with 15-20 handy overs an innnings.

Have you seen Krejzas form this year MAL? And also, how he performed not long ago at the WACA this year?

For mine, i reckon its also a slight cover for Watson this selection of Steve Smith aswell!

Maybe Watson is under a bigger injury cloud then we know about at present?

I was just stating Krejzas form did not warrant being picked. As i said, i still think there is something up with Watson, and Steve Smith may be an all rounder replacement for him, with Hussey opening.

For mine, no matter what he does over there Smith, im happy he has got a call up. I am a massive fan of him, and its good to see young fellas get into the Test side (if he is picked)

With Siddle out, Clint McKay comes into the side. Well done to him for making his test debut. Its going to be a tough one as our bowling attack looks slim and inexperianced. However I would have thought that S.Clark would have been in the mix, simple for his experiance. However as much as I would agree that he is not ready, you have to blood him at some stage, and get him rolling. Lets do it now, see what happens!
Hes 27, so he has been around for a bit. I reckon he'll go ok. Good luck to him and good luck to us. This is going to be tough. Johnson is really going to have to step up today, and also Watson is going to really earn his money as an allrounder this test. I hope hes fit, hes going to get the ball a fair bit!

mcgain has been the best performed spinner in the shield this season ahead of krezja then o'brien

steve smith in no way deserves a spot at the moment - cullen baileys stats are almost the same as smiths this season

Agree MAY-Z
MCGAIN is clearly the best domestic spinner not only this season, but last season
He had a shocker in South Africa and got banished
Age not ability is why he has been overlooked

On The Steve Supersmith selection
Might be an insurance policy
If both HAURITZand WATTO are in doubt, SMITH might be over there 2 cover both options
If WATTO is injured  SMITH could bat 6-7 with HUSS opening ?
Add to this, we have retained the WORRELL/WATSON trophy, so why not blood a 20 year old
However I still think his legspinners in the longer games are an invitation to improve the opposition batters averages and strike rates at this stage of his career
Having said that it would be great to see him bash a few runs and take a few wickets as he is a very exciting player to watch

One S.K Warnes stats weren't too impressive when he made his test debut.

Not saying that Steve Smith deserves his selection in the squad but i believe he covers the possibility of Watson or Hauritz pulling out the best out of all the players mentioned.
