Let's also throw in to the mix a group of batsmen going along at 2 an over on this flat pitch. Play some shots and we might see a genuine result.

I don't want to bag Klinger because it is amazing how he has turned his career around over the last 2 years, but I have to ask the question... is he a selfish batsman? or is he doing what he thinks is best for the team?

Not a good start by SA with smith Gone for 26. SA 1/39

i wouldnt have a problem with him batting like he is if harris borgas manou and o'brien didnt all bat the same way. the team only needs 1 anchor in each innings not 5

our slow batting cost us against queensalnd and even in teh last game against vic where we could have scored much quicker

to quote jason gillespie on abc radio yesterday south australia play 'yawning cricket'

Wow we really do play boring cricket at times, our run rate is pitiful without Cosgrove belting it around.

I know it is good that they are putting a price on their wicket but we need to get over that line of thinking now, when we were crap we could cheer when a batsman lasted more than an hour but now we need to step up a gear and start to put pressure on the opposition. Scoring at a decent rate is a good way of doing this.

Dont yell out "Bring home the bacon" is Cossie is at the crease while you're there!

The captains have gotta at times contrive or set targets get 6 points by almost any means
The more you try the more opportunities to get the points, I agree with what skippers need to do

However the point HAWK/MAL are trying to point out is that its not real cricket, it becomes fabricated almost barstaadised cricket
Watching 2 spinners bowling on a veritable unspinning deck, appearing as flat as hell, with a ring field and seeing oppostion batters hit boundarys at will was not cricket
I watched it unfold it was contrived garbage cricket
SA WERE NOT TRYING 100% TO DISMISS THE BATSMAN
Manou was LEAKING runs, presenting runs on a platter by setting audacious fields
It was not competitive cricket
For people like HAWK/MAL it was degrading
We both are from the old school, play cricket hard, to the best of your ability, and try to win
To see the charitable cricket yesterday was offsetting insulting and brought the game into disrepute
Thats not my isolated opinion, it was the opinion of several spectators

A real problem is the flat wickets
We need some more give for the quickies, and all curators must be put on notice to produce decks to take some turn to allow spinners to become more competitive
This way if the decks are an even contest between bat and ball, sides who are good enough get to 450 and declare can feel confident about winning the game, instead of being picked off at times

The Adelaide Oval deck is far too flat the last 2 seasons, and IF skippers didnt declare just about every game would have been 2 pointers
Good post here. I think you are on the money. I guess my point is that it is going to be pretty hard to change with rules. It has to be the captains putting a real value on the win, not devaluing it with ridiculous declarations. Anyway, the boys are going alright now at 2 for 111 with Cossie and Klinger in, so lets hope we can pull it off.
Don't be scared. Now is not the time!

This is where they should start to accelerate with Heal and Voges bowling and Klinger being set.

He could quite possibly bat himself into the boxing day test by winning this for SA.

With 8 wickets in hand we should do it easily.
