Because, as we all know, it's so important for spinners to get as close to the front line as possible. Tim May used to to do the same thing and it drove me nuts.

I hope Katich was watching Yousuf then .. always look at your batting partner to see if he is running.

FFS why dont these slips move up, 140km/h and not carrying for the 2nd time

It's something Australia has never done. Nothing wrong with where keeper and 1st slip is, but 2nd slip should be a step of two closer so they can dive across for the one that isn't carrying to 1st slip. It's called a staggered slip formation, and why we never do it, I'll never know.

What I can't understand is the captain is up the other end, he would have seen it was plum in front, and yet he allows Salman Butt to call for a referral. Do these players understand the system at all?

Did he allow it though? Butt called for it very quickly. Not sure Yousuf had any say in th matter. I'm sure he wouldn't be impressed with Butt at all.

I would have thought if you are going to call for a referral, the least you would do was ask your mate down the other end. Afterall, the reason you missed it is because you didn't read the line of the ball, so how would you know if it was a bad call or not?

Agreed, but he called for the referral so quickly there is no way he had time to ask Yousuf.

Watson needs to drop a couple of bouncers in, these blokes now coming 3 or 4 paces down the pitch easily to negate the reverse swing

Nope, he's brought Haddin up to the stumps., that will fix it. Best for Watson to keep bowling a fuller length than dropping short.
