Yep, I'm happy for them to call it 20/20, but not 20/20 cricket.

My favourite forms of cricket in order:
1 - Test Cricket
2 - Sheffield Shield
3 - 2 day Grade cricket
4 - 2 day ATCA cricket

If not bearing resemblance to test cricket is your sole criteria then 50 over cricket isn't a form or cricket either

20-20 is just a faster paced 50 over game and will one day replace it as the sole short form of the game IMO

3. 50 overs

Still think Test cricket is the best cricket but 20/20 is sucking me in now, especially now our domestic comp is looking pretty exciting. In 50 over games it can drag on a bit, don't mind watching the Redbacks play it but ODI are starting to bore me, especially when you have the same teams playing each other 7 times in a row....

I can see it getting more tactical as it evolves and becoming a fascinating form of the game in it's own right. One thing it's done IMO is open players' eyes to what scores can be achieved in 50 over games.

A good test match is still the ultimate for me but 20-20 is an entertaining variation on the theme.

50 over cricket has lost me I am afraid. It's stuck in the middle of the 2 formats and going nowhere.

Only thing i'd swap would be the order of Grade and ATCA games but i'm biased

Batsmen get a chance to establish and innings rather than just slog, bowlers have some sort of chance. Sure 50 over cricket isn't the pure form of the game but at least it gives the bowlers a go and makes the batsmen think rather than just try to hit everything for 6.

What you say is true to a point but 50 over cricket is still a very contrived version of test cricket. I don't see how shrinking a 50 over game to a 20 over game (both from the 5 day original verison) makes 20-20 so different you can't see the resemblance to test cricket, yet you can in one day cricket.

If you said it should be test cricket only then I could understand it better.

Personally, I can't understand how anyone can accept the 50 over game but not 20-20. They are the same beasts. If Kerry Packer had thought of 20-20 way back in 1977 I don't think we would question 20-20 at all now.

Test Cricket for mine, I believe alot more skill and application is required by all involved to play in a 5 day test ( although alot are shorter these days). Still like the limited overs fixtures but for some reason (and all i was at cricket was a slogger), the 20/20 concept does nothing for me

I should clarify my vote

1. Test Cricket
2. Domestic T20
3. ODI's
4. ODD's
5. International T20

For mine, as stated many a time, the T20 should be for domestic cricket only. I quite enjoy watching the T20's on a domestic level this season with the influx of internationals. International T20's are loathsome to watch IMO.

If anything, the influx of T20 has rejuvinated my interest in test cricket. Love it! I'll even watch non Australian matches nowadays.

I think the term "killed Test cricket" basically stems from the low crowds in India. They and maybe West Indies (predictably) are the only place that have had lower crowds lately IMO. But of course, India is the ICCs lovechild, so "all eyez are on them".

And I can only gauge that through watching matches on television, as we barely hear of any figures in other countries. But have a look at the other countries. Ever seen New Zealand grounds packed for Test matches? Ever seen South African grounds packed for Test matches? Pakistan?

Apart from the ASHES, how can you say that Test cricket is a s popular as ever ?????

Crowds are down in all countries and even some of the players are giving it away in preference for the shorter version.

Personally, i'm a BIG fan of Test cricket and hope that it remains strong but when it comes to watching, Test cricket AT TIMES it is laboriously slow and dull where as a 20/20 is generally Action Action Action.

You obviously don't remember the 1991 Test Series against the West Indies in the West Indies. It was acromonious to say the least and the Windian tactic of slogging the bowling and then sending down a mere 12 overs per hour proved to be successful and entertaining as well.

Like all Teeball fans you mistake quanitity over quality. You aren't watching real cricket shots in teeball and the bowlers are there merely for decoration. Soon they will be replaced by pop up aluminium poles that throw down half volleys and the whole thing will be a dance off and six hitting festivus for the restofus. Fair enough if that's your thing but I prefer to watch the quaint old game of Cricket.

Perhaps the only thing more quaint is your misguided view that slow over rates and Test Cricketers carrying on like Pork Chops is a recent phenonemon.
