Former cricket umpire on child sex charges

A FORMER international cricket umpire will face court in Brisbane today on 12 child sex charges.

The man is alleged to have indecently assaulted the four complainants on different occasions between 1974 and 1998.

The offences against the two 14-year-old males are alleged to have occurred in 1974 and the two 16-year-old females in 1983 and 1998.

In relation to one 14-year-old, the man has been charged with five counts of indecent assault on a male under 14 and four sodomy offences.

The man, who cannot be identified under Queensland law, has been charged with one count of indecent assault against the other 14-year-old boy.

He has also been charged with one count each of indecent assault on a female in relation to both 16-year-old girls.

He will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today

Not another one... isn't the Inspector Gadget look a like umpire from Tassie currently serving time for being a paedophile?

If you do a few searches on cricinfo, it is not very hard to work out who this one is, even though his name has been supressed...

looks like channel 7 are going to be in the shite as they named him in their broadcast. or is it only suppressed in national news services to protect the Qld people much like how SA didnt get any info on the Snowtown case

Clue: He was the umpire at the other end when Murali was called for throwing in that one-day game at Adelaide Oval.
