Thunder and Lightning 11/11/06

I love a good thunder storm but we seem to be missing it at the moment, most of the lightning is to our North and West so Im asuming a few people who live North of town might be getting a good skyshow at the moment.

All good in Edwardstown - thunder, lightning, rain. Windows are open, lights are out, sound is off - Mother Nature has FINALLY arrived. :prayer:

Ah yeah, tried to take a few pictures, and a video etc. Hope my camera did the job.

Couple of times got heavy rain, big drops of it, just like a mini version of what Brisbane would get.

How close has anyone ever been to a lightning strike? Earlier this year lightning struck the stobie pole out the front of my house whilst I was sitting on the front balcony about 10m away.

We had one about 2 or 3 blocks away a year ago and it severely rocked the house!
A bloke I work with actually got hit by lightning and lived to tell the tale, has a small scar as a result.

Yeah, Ive been keeping an eye on the radar and the Northern side of town (as per usual) seems to be getting the best of it.
Rains stopped completely here now but there's a bit on its way a bit lower in about an hour so I have my fingers crossed the Happy Valley resevoir might get a few more drops in it tonight yet.

Three years ago I was umpiring a game of footy in Darwin and we had one of those huge tropical storms, before it p!ssed down, the thunder and lightning rolled in next minute we saw this huge bolt of lihtening and heard a deafening thunder clap, the local TV channel tower, 300 m away got stuck, the next highest metal point were the goal posts!!!!

Needless to say the goal umpires shat themselves and the senior coach came on and asked if we wanted to call the game off, we played on but teh goal umpires were jumpy for teh rest of the game especially as they were standing in ground water.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

There was one close to my house in Woodville North. I believe it was less then a KM away.

For those of you who are familiar with golf vernacular...................

When in a lightning storm, take former pro great Lee Trevino's advice. Trevino, who was struck by lightning himself, said to hold up a one-iron because even God can't hit a one-iron
