2007 Rumours - Who is going where?

North, along with South, have definitely been the heavy recruiters over the past couple of years. They have been unlucky in a way, with injury and the pre-season draft. How quickly can North Adelaide develop a side to seriously contend for the premiership? Will it take a couple of seasons to gel a team together or, with a bit of luck, can they nab one straight away with key players in their first year at the club? Jarman has done well, but he hasn't really had the chance to build a side with the same key players from season to season like Laird and Fuller have been able to do. Pyman looks as if he will have pretty much the same list (swap Cupido for Predergast) so if he's good enough, may be a threat next year.

Agreed, this has been a big issue.
Traditionally a side needs to be together for a year or 2 before excelling.
North have had a large turnover of players, some times through its own fault sometimes because of circs outside of their hands.
The most stability we had under Jarman was from 2004 to 2005 but then early in 2005 we lost Motlop and Hueskes early on.
Injuries have been an issue too and its very debatable as to how much is bad luck and how much is bad management.

My mail is that Ben Hart is to nominate for the draft so he may not be at Prospect yet? I understand (subject to the draft) that Luke Livingston (190 cm Key Position player CHB? Carlton), Adam Morgan (194cm Key position defender or Fwd? WB/Dogs), Trent Sporn (188cm utility Carlton) and James Allan (177cm on baller Werribee) have all agreed/signed to play at North.

Morgan and Livingston add height and size to our defence which apart from Schubert lacked size this year given the problems with Koops and the injury to Simon Cox. We did "uncover" McIntyre but he looks lost to the draft? I would expect the tall forwards to be Alleway, Weatherley and Gill (assuming he doesn't get drafted). Add in Shannon Motlop and I can't really see that we would need to many more in's except maybe for another ruckman (I hear one is being "pursued") given the way O'Hara ended up.

I think given our deficiencies last year and with those players leaving then the above mentioned recruits will be very good additions and shouldn't cause too many problems in settling into the North style and game plan. I would expect (or hope!) that North is a top 3 definate and a genuine contender in 2007? If not those "rumblings" presently will turn into some serious questions asked of the Senior coach and playing group as a whole.

Are Glenn and James presently making enquiries as to a new coach in case those rumblings become louder??? Given Norths proactive recruiting one wouldn't be surprised if they are being surruptitiously proactive in sounding out another coach, for insurance purposes......

I'm sure there are a few North supporters who regularly post on this site who would happily volunteer their service so the club is "seen" to be doing this unofficially.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Jarman like him or hating (added with his brother) makes recruiting players very very easy.
When talking to prospective recruits interstate its much easier to get someone over if a Jarman is on the phone as opposed to someone like Hill, Fuller, Macgowan, etc.
This is a big selling point for Jars so I can't see him being replaced soon. Its just a matter of how much this benefit is compared to his downsides.
I doubt the club would sound out new coaches for a while yet, James and Glenn are very straight up and unlike some other clubs wouldn't work like that.

Plus the bonus of that fabulous choking chicken at the start of the quaters and after the goals would definitely be and added attraction to playing for the red and whites

Numbers, dates,"entities" and so on don't mean farg all to the people that know and love Port Adelaide. Your statistical and legal crap has little or no influence on the passion Port fans feel. You show no ability to take feelings and heritage into account.

I would assume that is because they can't understand it - we have the same IQ problem with Collingwood supporters over here!

I hope getting rid of JJ is not going to come back and bite Sturt (I fear it might), but I wonder how much shite he will cop from the Alberton faithful once he tries on his first 'sell-the-dummy' routine and gets caught out? Might be playing a lot of reserves out there if he doesn't toe the party line.

The mock draft at FOOTYGOSS has Gill being picked up:
http://www.footygoss.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=31333&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

I actually found this on vflfooty.com.

picked up by Adelaide late in the draft....if this was to happen, atleast for north fans he is still in SA and play mostly if not 100% with the rooters.

also has Hurley going to the Power...f***, its like a 2nd home for sturt players
Carn the blues!!!!!

Unlucky? Or poorly managed? We all know the risks involved in recruiting players prior to the AFL draft, as well as the risks involved in recruiting players with a history of injuries.

Honestly, both.
Not unlucky with players like Koops and Cox and I agree with your point in regard to players like these but unlucky with quite a few others.
Definately unlucky in regard to his point about the preseason draft especially last year losing Roe, Hunt, Gilham (and potentially Gilham's brother) all on the PSD day when with a bit of luck they could have stayed.
Not to mention losing Shannon Motlop to a one off which no other club in the history of the game had to endure. I don't think any club would have had a management plan for a Tsunami so you cant blame poor planning on that one, surely? (Christ, I hope Topsy doesn't take this the wrong way as we're discussing footy and not natural disasters).

In summary, both.

I've heard the James Boys from Norwood are going back home to Kersbrook where Brett will coach. Anyone to shed some light?

Kersbrook must have gone downhill in recent years if Paul James can get a game with them! :?

They got beaten by 30 goal in the GF!! But to their credit they beat Meadows and Torrens Valley in the finals which they certainly weren't expected to.

With Brett & Paul back it will make them hard to beat next year.

I've heard that Chad Dawe from Meadows, who played a handful of league games with WWT in 2005, is currently doing a pre season with Sturt.
