Just a few questions here, how does the meyer shield side get picked, and who picks it?
I agree with you WIW that there are some interesting selections, does anyone know what the final 12 is?

From what i recall after our boys got back to the cricket club last night after they left compass the side is something like:

B. Elliot
S. Conner
R. Lishmund
B. Garrard
L. Spurling
A. Evans
L. Bailey
C. Lintern
R. Garrard
S. Minot
T. Clarke

Interesting to note McLaren the only club not represented in the side... Heard also that Butler and Schofield couldnt play due to work commitments, otherwise would have been start up players!

Cant separate the last 2.

My view on the weekend playing Elliott was that they have a fantastic bowling lineup with plenty of strong options in Johnston, Kuss, Goldsmith, Robertson, J Consalvo, Ellis. All very nice otions, i do think that they rely too heavily on 3 batsmen and that can be seen as their weakness however they are definately a side to keep an eye on. I also would like to say that i enjoy playing against them as they are good blokes and very good for the comp.

I will say that we were rapt with the win though.

yes i do believe we rely on three batsmen but really we all just try to pitch in and get a score, it was a good game if we were to of held our catches i think the result would have gone the other way, with binga out and h robertson nursing a bad thumb the batting line up was a weaker one.....and some shocker of decisions too...d petrucci was caught on the crease his foot directly on the line of the crease and with his foot right in the middle of the white chalk line for middle stump hit him right infront, tiny didnt budge...tiny wouldnt give any of ours yet trigger fingered to get us out. ...but excuses are for losers i guess, we were beaten by the better team.. great battle and i hope you guys enjoyed playing on such a wondefull oval

any side that only makes 101 on such a wonderfull oval does not deserve to win As for H robertson nursing a bad thumb he is also nursing a big head his side was in trouble and he tried to smack duncomb out of the park second ball then bowled short rubbish 0 28 off 6 . dont blame the umpire look at your own poor performance

well i think we can all agree tiny is rubbish nursing a big head at least im not nursing your gut i think you should come back to cricket and ill give you some short balls....basket case your the worst umpire slash person ive met you rip off a footy club, no one likes you , so remember where we are and what we have done this year trigger finger your a joke :) oh and before you say we shouldnt win of coarse we shouldnt its only 101!?!?! had we of held catches things could have been different,
as for trouble he came in at 8 and didnt try smash it out the park that would hurt his thumb a misjudged shot and paid for it as for short shit if i didnt have to alter my run in to go AROUND you i may of had a chance...oh well keep trying though, we have been bowled out for cheap all year but that shows why we are up there this year not a big headed team just go out to play a great game of cricket and try our best,

You cant blame peeky for not putting his hand up to play meyer shield, the bloke is undoubtedly the best batsman in the comp, but he is 40+ and has a young family and understandingly would relish the weekend off! Can't understand why people would have a go at him for this...

Tiny is definitely the worst umpire in A grade, i know i generally have to ask him to step back a couple of yards so i can get round him a little easier. I don't think he should be umpiring A grade, as he is just to inconsistent, smokes during play, and i could name a couple of occasions where we have had a run out at the bowlers end but because he hasn't moved he hasn't been in position to give the decisions out, it's a disgrace.

Congrats to young Kuss on getting the call up, i wonder who pulled out? Any news on who is playing in the Invitation XI. IMO there is a few suspect selections in the Meyer Shield side. Firstly to have no McLaren players is a joke, Bodie "The Man" Wilson, offers a lot more to the side than Serge "Red Jacket" Minot and Rohan "Rohsa" Garrard. There is no doubt Serge has lost a considerable amount of yards over the last few years, and is no faster than a gentle medium pace. This was proven last year on K.I. when he was hit to all parts of the ground.
