I disagree, what do you mean by serious collision? Is a serious collision one that causes greater damage to the vehicles (car,bike) or one that has more potential to kill?

If I was to be in a crash I would much rather be in a car than a bike or on foot. The chances of being hit by a car on bike or foot and living would be minimal compared to being in a car IMHO.

I was referring to the potential to do damage to others rather than damage to yourself. A car weighing a tonne or more hurtling through a red light at 60kph will do far more damage than a 50 to 100kg cyclist or pedestrian ambling through at walking speed.

Didn't an elderly chap die - or nearly die - a year or so ago after being run down by a cyclist?
I agree the bigger the vehicle the bigger the likely damage, but that doesn't justify the cyclist running red lights.
I think the fragile looking old lady I saw have a close shave with 5 cyclists on Wednesday would have been seriously injured if one of them had hit her at the speed they were going.

No, I admit I don't, but I am less likely to mow someone down - I can stop almost instantly, or dodge easily, on two legs at walking pace.

Yep, serial jaywalker, but not one of the many pedestrian idiots who assume that cars will stop for them when they blindly cross the road ... it's always puzzled me why pedestrians will trust people they don't know to not mow them down when they cross the road without looking. After all, they are only risking their lives.

No biggy GWW, it's the moderator's prerogative. However I've seen much worse than the
tongue in cheek comments made here, allowed in other threads. Some quite vile.
It does seem strange that people can vote in this poll saying they actually hate a sector of

I too think it is amusing and intriguing that "not particularly appropriate" posts can be deleted while outright abusive ones in other threads can be left intact.

There is definately a high"tool " factor in the cycling commumity at the moment.
I was parked on Greenhill Rd at 6.40am for work which I do deliberately do so I am in and out before the 7am clearway restrictions come into play(very clearly and well posted)in that area of Greenhill Rd. Jumped back into van 100m in front of a group heading west then 10 sec later a massive thud on the work van followed by a torrent of abuse about being in the clearway.Checked the sign and I was totally correct . Followed them down Greenhill Rd,Anzac Hwy and stopped at Sth Rd where justice was served.How expensive are 10-15 broken stokes to fix I wonder.

One of our guys at work said his group of "Sunday riders" bought matching lycra team replicas and said"While the Tour Down Under is on we all wear the same gear cos more people around town look at you"..

Then again, I have been to the last 2 Adelaide Utd games and the 20-20 cricket last night and bugger me the tool factor there is staggering Why possesses someone to stand behind a fence chanting" Weslo takes it up the arse do dar do dar" at a security guy who had been sitting on a chair inside the fence 2m in front of us harmlessly and was a great bloke.

Fair enough. I suppose it is up to the moderators to maintain some sort of standard across the forum and on the whole (and particularly in this case) they do a pretty good job.

I hope you're not inferring that your possible actions in your vehicle led to the "serving of justice". Fear not though regular spokes only cost 7-10 c so the serving of justice barely cost 70 c to $1.50 plus labuor costs if they got someone else to repair it.
