I was parked on Greenhill Rd at 6.40am for work which I do deliberately do so I am in and out before the 7am clearway restrictions come into play(very clearly and well posted)in that area of Greenhill Rd. Jumped back into van 100m in front of a group heading west then 10 sec later a massive thud on the work van followed by a torrent of abuse about being in the clearway.Checked the sign and I was totally correct . Followed them down Greenhill Rd,Anzac Hwy and stopped at Sth Rd where justice was served. How expensive are 10-15 broken stokes to fix I wonder.

I hope you're not inferring that your possible actions in your vehicle led to the "serving of justice". Fear not though regular spokes only cost 7-10 c so the serving of justice barely cost 70 c to $1.50 plus labuor costs if they got someone else to repair it.

not far off it Bays. last time I got my spokes fixed it was $2 each installed. this was about 12 months ago

Thanks for the tip gents' I will go both wheels next time although there probably wont be one.I am there between 6.20-6.45 every Monday morning and the boys in Sky blue(cycling club probaby full of good people near the beach that need not be bagged for having a tool in the club) now pass me in the middle lane every single morning to avoid the chance of an "accidental" door being opened just as they ride past as I explained would happen if I was subject to that abuse again.

'fish' I'm sorry if you or anyone else was offended by that post.
I'm a cyclist myself and given that some people voted that they actually 'hate' us, I thought
it appropriate to take the mickey, never for one moment thinking anyone would take such
obvious sarcasm seriously. There was also the winking smiley to further confirm this fact.
The moderators also understood that it was clearly in jest.
Maybe I should be offended that anyone could think a fellow member of the SA Footy Forum
community would seriously condone injuring anyone.
;)
But I'm cool, hope you are too.

The sooner the government bites the bullet and make cyclists pay for registration (and get a rego plate on the back of a bike) the better. Rego doesn't need to be much (say $50 a year), but if cyclist want better road conditions, then let them pay for it. Also, it means we can report them to the cops whenever they're acting the illegal tool.

That will be a good way to encourage people to cycle

Registration will achieve nothing ... in any case, the registration I pay on 2 cars should be more than enough I would have thought.

LOL, and how is a rego plate at the back of a bicycle going to get a cyclist nabbed by a red light camera?

If you're going to make them pay rego then you'll need to provide some comprehensive bicycle facilities worth paying for, not the hotch potch that is provided at present.

I'm sure most cyclists would be happy to pay rego if every road (urban and rural) was designed, constructed and maintained for cyclists to the full engineering standards. This would mean bike lanes on every arterial road - continuous through intersections not stopping and starting as they do now. Also hard shoulders on every rural/regional road to ensure separation from high speed traffic. Not to mention adequate and appropriate bicycle parking facilities at journey destinations. Bicycle detectors at traffic lights. I'm sure theres more just can't think of it now.

Why stop there lets make pedestrians pay rego, stick a number on their back and we can report them for jaywalking. :D

I reckon it would cost the Govt as much to administer and police a bike rego system as the revenue it would bring in.

Imagine all the forms

Kids bikes, stolen bikes, people with multiple bikes, etc, etc

The line for the registration offices would be forever out the door!
In between signatures .....
