MW and i have vigorously debated this issue before ;)

Funny thing is there is a few guys i know very well that play in their As and Bs and they agree with us. But at the end of the day if he wants to look back at his medals in 20 years time and can tell himself he earnt them by being the best he could be. Good luck to him. Ignorance is bliss!

He can look back at all his premiership's!! By the way how many has he won in that div 7r side, would have won at least 6! Does anybody now how many that side has won, have been a good side for the last 10 years and are all ways in the finals, even if it 6r or 7r!!

Point is Juke. A guy of his talent how many Div A,B or even C grade premierships can he look back and say he has he won?
Correct me if im wrong MW or Finn but his side is considered Unis E grade side. For a guy that has the talent to play in at least their Bs do u still think ud be proud to clean up in essentially E grade?

Who cares what grade this guy plays, seriously!!! He is playing with his mates and enjoys his footy- what more can you ask for??
At the end of the day, whether it be Div 1, Div 7R or C5, we are all AMATEUR footballers FFS!
I think that sometimes people forget that this is AMATEUR league, not the bloody AFL!

Their Div 7 Reserves side may have played in a record amount of GFs in a row, and Legrand may have won a record amount of medals, but ask anyone how Adelaide Uni have been travelling over the last few years, and most would say unsuccessfully. I feel sorry for their new coach Marcus Trimboli when he sees a guy on the track, who has good skills and is fit, but can't utilize him in their top grades, cos he's playing lower standard footy with his mates!?!?! It'll be hard for Marcus to make Adelaide Uni successful again, when he has everyone at that club going their own way. And what happened to the old adage 'You play where, you're picked'? Good Luck Marcus, seems there a few people at the Blacks that don't want them returning to the highly regarded Amateur Club they once were......just a great Div 7 Reserves Club (oh sorry, that's right they're mates  )

Having not played there for a few years now I am not familiar with the talent level in the D7R side at the moment, but Wes would prob be the only one who could play A grade, maybe one more.

I don't think you can blame the state of the Adelaide Uni A grade solely on a Div 7R side mate.

What do you think is better? Having a slightly less talented player play A grade because he WANTS too, or a slightly more talented player play A grade because he HAS too? I think you'll find the output from both would be about the same if not in favour of the former....

I think it would be better, if we had everyone at the Adelaide University Football club, playing in the respective grades that the coaches think would be for the betterment of the whole club and not just for individuals seeking personal glory. Footy Clubs become successful if they all pull in the one direction, but not when people think they're bigger than the club and wanna do their own thing.

Who really cares about what Wes does, there are many players playing in Div 7 that could play in a higher grades.

Yeah i'm over Legrand talk, we all know the situation.

As the date approaches to when divisions are announced who will be playing in Div 7 this year?

I think it's afe to assume the following teams will be playing:
Mawson lakes
Glenuga
SHOC
Athelstone
flinders uni
Adelaide uni
Central united
Angle Vale

And one would think both North pines and Ovingham will be playing in a c Grade comp,

So where are the Final 2 teams going to come from?

I think it's safe to assume the following teams will be playing:
Mawson lakes
Glenunga
SHOC
Athelstone
Flinders uni
Adelaide uni
Central united
Angle Vale

I think Modbury are a certainty to fill at least 1 of the 2 spots...SMOSH, TTG or Port District to fill the last spot is my guess.

Was this Legrand bloke doing the hard yards so he can win another Div 7 Reserves Medal with his mates??? What a joke!! If ANYONE starts training in January and doesn't have aspirations of playing any higher than Div 7 B grade, is a disgrace regardless of age.

So when i did a full pre-season last year with uni's a's and b's with no aspirations apart from the odd c6 game, i was also sandbagging rather than trying to get myself fit for the first time for awhile? Wes is not allowed to train to get some fitness?

All those lower grade players throughout a million clubs wanting to improve their skill level and fitness are farcical for training knowing that they want to play with their mates?

This annual obsession with wes is ridiculous - yeah he's playing 7res again - get over it. Yes he's playing with mates as foss is going around (coaching) for around the eleventh year in a row. We've also had ex country a grade players playing c1/c2 who were paid at their clubs but can't commit to training twice a week but who want to play. Goodwood's c1 side had several ex sanfl players in it. The c6 side of port district had several ex sanfl players in it last year but i didn't hear too much complaining about it apart from some good hearted jealousy.

Should the a and b grade players who put in twice a week be neglected and selected behind somebody who can train only occasionally due to work?

Uni operates differently to many other clubs - its time to realise this as well.

Finn, the problem that you guys have is that there's a perception around the league that there's more talent running around in your div7R team than in your div7 team. While that perception exists, people from other clubs will make that observation on this forum. Without wanting to tell you how to run your club having an honest look at the player resources you have available in those teams might lead to ranking them more appropriately. Your div7 team had a lot of young blokes last year.
