He is having a crack, hope he does well, but it is a fair jump from D7 to D2. It may take a couple of years but hopefully we can provide the environment for him to flourish and improve.

And by the way, I am looking forward to the points system more than most, we might be able to keep some of the 270-300 juniors we have playing here each year instead of losing them to other clubs. Don't get me started on that one.

  yeah that's what happened! ;)

Okay, so how much is he getting paid? Someone better tell me as I'm the one who does the paying.

anyone from pembroke would like to comment?

Brakenridge is training at Norwood and doing pretty well so he might be another loss for Pembroke

Gee, I'm copping it sweet at the moment. Not sure what the story was behind Peter. I wasn't involved in that.

I don't think the grade he's coaching is the issue, it's that he had confirmed he was coaching our C grade again this year and was swept out from under us. No doubt as a coach, you want to coach as high as you can if that's what you're after. I still can't work out why he was poached from us? Nothing against him personally, cos he's a great bloke. But I would have been surprised if he ever coached higher than C grade at Hope Valley IMO

ok i agree coach at the highest level that you can but a couple of things cheesed me off which i told pete.
1. surely athelstone could have done some homework and looked at unemployed coaches or someone from within.
2. they knew that pete had committed to us for 2010 so should not have encouraged him to break a committment.
3. how would the raggies felt if we encouraged kevin hopper (for example) to break his contract and come to hope valley
4. and finally i am from the old school and when i shake on something that is my contract and you dont back off it for any reason.
finally good luck to pete but still doesnt mean i cant be disappointed over the way it was done

TT was a contract signed? If not come to terms that the Raggies have seen something that Hope Valley hasn't if so he wouldn't have be given the Hope Valley C grade job. Coaches and players leave clubs all the time. It wouldn't have been an easy decision for Peter so give him a break and stop bagging him and the club he has gone to.

Like what? So you reckon they've seen something in 2 interviews that we couldn't see in 2 years of playing and a year of coaching? Obviously all those scouts they sent out to C4 games last year have paid dividends for them then!!

Coaches are like Players they develop with experience, He’s Young and can grow with a young group of kids, I wouldn’t question anything Athelstone does compared to Hope Valley, Clearly Athelstone are doing something right Div2 Compared to D5 of Hope Valley.

I'm not sure spending all the money they did last year to finish 6th was right. Nor do I think trying to buy a premiership by spending more and more each year on "ring ins" is right.

Div 5 clubs like us do it tough each year because clubs in higher divisions promise our kids the world and teach them that playing for the highest bidder is the right thing to do! When it's not!!
I'd like to see you try and build a club from Div 7 (2005) with limited financial resources and Div 1 and Div 2 clubs pinching all of our juniors year after year.
You have no idea what we go through so don't get on here and tell me that athelstone are doing something right because they're 3 divisons higher than us.

Gotta go, I'm off to spread some community joy and play the pokies. End Rant.

Not every junior player leaves a lower grade club seeking coin. Maybe they want to better themselves and play at the highest level they can, just like leaving to play at an SANFL club. Case and point, Moons from HV went to Salis Nth for better opportunities in the State U23s and to play footy with mates. I wouldnt think that the lure of the $$ would have been a driving factor. he probably got as much with HV for best players nearly every week. I guess u have to accept that good players may not stay and be loyal if the standard and challenges arent there for them.

let me think????.........................um NO :lol:

We have heard Scudds missed out at Virginia but he wont be contacted by MFC. If you havent done 90% of pre season you wont be playing A Grade out at Modbury. Reward for effort is a key motivational factor out there atm and it has seen 99% of last years A grade and a couple new faces attend almost every session, including holding additional sessions the week before the scheduled return.

In saying that he is more than welcome to return if he wants to get fit and play for the club.

Scudds has been playing A grade cricket at Port Districts this year, I heard a sneaky rumour that part of the deal of him playing cricket was that he was suiting up for them in the winter as well, second hand information but could there be any truth behind it seeing the mass exodus of players from Largs this year?? :? :?
