Sounds like some bloody good recruits there.
Excellent age to be picking them up.
I think they've learnt from previous mistakes they and other clubs such as North have made in picking up players at the wrong end of their 20s.
Sounds like the new setup at Westies are on the ball and recruiting very wisely.
Good luck to West, I look forward to a resurgance, and most of all I look forward to the Blood's Bonanza of 2007. :D

Some good pick ups hopefully for West and at least they are active in the market place. You do however have to wonder about their tatics because some potential recruits (those being spoken to by a nunber of clubs still) have not been sold just on West's strengths and what they offer but also the fact the West recruiters do a good "hatchet job" on slagging off the other SANFL clubs.

Scare tatics and bullshit about other clubs and how they treat recruits etc is a bit rich coming from a club who has had a revolving door of ex- victorian recruits over the years who don't seem to last all that long. Just a quick glance at the ladder positions of the various clubs over the past few years will indicate who is going well and who is not. Still there are more opportunities at the bottom club for middle of the road recruits to make an impression.

Is the ghost of Doug still hanging over Richmond?

You have to be joking, BPBRB!

You don't think other Clubs tell potential recruits that West have been bottom the last two years, etc, etc and they shouldn't sign with us. North haven't missed out on many of their targets in the last year or two. West were well in the market for James Allen, but he signed with North. This might have been because of;

1 Much more money
2 North slagging Westies
3 Love of the North jumper and Jars personality
4 He knows several North players
5 All of the above.

I'll leave it to others to judge, but listening to your carp about how North are the only ethical Club in the league is wearing very thin, especially with sveral delisted AFL players reportedly signing with you. I'd strongly suspect a few other clubs are p****d off with your Club (and one or two others)more than they ever would be with the Bloods.

North supporters have taunted us that we shouldn't complain, only try to compete, and now you put up this weak post

I edited this post after speaking to my source. All I am going to say that I have heard what I posted from 2 different sources now.

Also I didn't state that North is the only ethical club (show me where that is written or implied) and I have heard plenty of negative stories about North from people tied up with other clubs over the years and also from within the club and I have been open in my criticism over the years too.

Now talking about ethical - Are your officals going to follow us on our pre-season interstate trip in 2007 and try and coerce our V/Capt this year 1 hour after he came of the field like they did this year? Yep real ethical.

Pathetic.

Are you still grizzling because West have reportedly (according to your 'sources') bad-mouthed other clubs when talking to recruits. I do hope the other Clubs don't wake up to this tactic and use it against us

And with great respect to Doug Thomas, at the start of this season he wouldn't have had a clue who your vice-captain was, let alone seriously try to recruit him after a game in Darwin with people all around.

As I said, practice what you preach.

Were you there in Darwin R&B? I was so I decided to make this whole story up just to bad mouth West! You call me pathetic? Whatever.
