I have been in the air con industry for over 10 years, on all sides of it and most problems come from the salesmen not knowing there products and saying anything to make the customer sign up and then once you have you will never hear from or see the salesman again.
I run a company where the installers are actually the guys who come out and quote which i think has a much greater advantage, who can pick up anything that will go wrong while out there, we also run another side to our company where we do installations for the major companies, which is the side that we are slowly doing less and less of, as we build up our reputation and most of our work is referral work.
We are able to do it at a cheaper price, as the major companies charge our install price and then put on a minimum of 20% on our price.
We deal with major suppliers and as our purchases continue to grow, so does our buying power.
If anyone is interested pm me with any questions.

Can only speak from my personal experience, but this is oh so true from what I have seen first hand.

For 4 months I asked every refrigeration mechanic I came into contact with the same question.

Most recomended 2 or 3 brands, the one thing in common was they all recomended Daikin, purchased ours from a small family buisiness specialising in Dakin, Thompson Airconditioning (Grange Rd Welland) and the service was awesome, daughter handeled the sales, Dad did the install with his sparky mate.

4 or 5 years later it hasn't missed a beat.

Ill pass that on Ian, the Thompsons are good friends of mine
