As stated elsewhere good pick up for the Bays. Douglas a good inside midfielder who can run all day and get the footy which is most important.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Very, very happy with Matt Thomas. Although I for one hope he turns out nothing like his namesake.

Pity he is at the puffs though. Considering the grief they've given us in the past.

Bentley - Big reputation but performance doesn't match. High maintenance costs, built for comfort not speed. The car that is - never heard of the player!

Bentley

Postby Ruck Legend » Tue Dec 20, 2005 2:56 pm

Here is some info Jimmy, I like the fact he has leadership potential

Rookie Draft selection No. 27 - GREG BENTLEY
From: Dandenong Stingrays
Born: 9 April 1987
Height: 187cm, Weight: 83kg

Medium forward with good balance and courage. Victoria Metro U18 representative and won Stingrays Best and Fairest Award in 2005.
Source - AFL

Honours:
AFL Draft Camp 2004
Dandenong Stingrays captain
Vic Metro U18 2005
Dandenong Stingrays B&F 2005
Victorian State Screening 2005
TAC Stats:
2004 TAC Cup: 16 games, 12 goals, average 15.8 PPG
2005 TAC Cup: 16 games, 19 goals, average 20.4 PPG, 7 times in best
2005 U18 Championships: 3 games, 2 goals, average 12.7 PPG
TAC Awards:
2005 TAC Cup Morrish Medal: 0 votes
2005 TAC Cup Coaches Award: 10 votes
Background:
Versatile player who has proven to be capable up forward or through the midfield in his time at the Stingrays. His 2004 season was good, but as the year went on some niggling injuries affected his performance and despite being a draft camp attendee at the end of last season he was overlooked in the draft. Returned to the TAC Cup this season, as the captain of the Stringrays and also walked away their best and fairest winner. Represented Vic Metro this year as well, and despite missing the Vic Metro Queen’s Birthday trial through injury his reputation was such that he was still able to make the final side. Provides plenty of versatility, namely as a forward and through the midfield and is an especially strong mark overhead.
Strengths:
- Pace and agility is good, able to get free when playing in the centre.
- Versatility
- Is very strong overhead, particularly in contested situations. He can take good one-grab marks and reads the play well

Happy with Lonie, might not play but we're also not getting to get stuck with players like Peel or Gilligan.
Suprised he made it that far.

But you bay fans can talk about the pick your team got and how good he'll be for the club, we can't do that, like in the last few years.

Even though my earlier post may be seen as a sledge against the Eagles if I had a choice between making a GF and getting a pick I'd take a GF every time. Obviously having made a GF I'd want to win it and as a Bays supporter I have extensive experience of how shite it is to lose grannies

Whilst having seen Douglas play against Murray Bushranger and NT U/18s this year and seeing how hard he works and how he can play I am confident he'll be better for us than L Angwin and M Handby and look how much of an impact they made on our club!! I site that as an example of how fickle the mini draft is for clubs, so in may ways it can be a blessing not to get a pick!!!

I am hoping I am speaking for my club and our supporters when I say that we aspire for GFs rather than mediocrity and a priority pick for being shite the season before.[/quote]
