The state of the competition often comes under fire, looking through the tables it seems as healthy as it has ever been. Going into round 12 there is only 2 teams that have already cemented to spot in their Grade, Salisbury West in Grade 1 & One Tree Hill in Grade 8.
Here is a list of how many teams are still in the hunt for finals in each grade going into round 13.
1: 4/8
2: 7/8
3: 6/8
4: 5/8
5: 7/8
6: 5/8
7: 5/6
8: 5/7

Grade 2 has 5 teams still in with a chance of minor premiers. Either Craigmore or Smithfield are likely to drop out of the 4 this week but both play the bottom sides in the last round. There are no easy games in Grade 2, even Eastern Park who are sitting bottom are capable of matching it with any other side.

From memory we have you blokes next week, you still playing by the no sledging rule??

There's a couple of chirpy ones in the B's, it was a pretty mellow game last time we met you's for memory. I hope they give us an umpire, there will be a lot riding on this game.

We were supposed to have an umpire for the grade 3 Brahma Lodge vs One Tree Hill Game this week. Unfortunately he pulled out - thats fine, these things happen. However, given the situation being 1vs2 with less than a point in it, I would have hoped that if at all possible the other umpire in this grade would have been taken from the game they originally had him scheduled to do and put onto our game. I'm not saying this should have happened in this instance, it may have been very late notice, but if it was possible in the future, a little bit of awareness of the state of the competition by the association should see this occur - Just a thought thats all.

Can anyone explain to me any policies that the association has on appointing unpires in the lower grades where there are not enough for every match in a round?

They will provide you with an umpire if you request one for a certain game.

We would have liked one for our game against smithfield too with the loser being out of finals contention. Already 1 debious decision that could impact on the outcome of the game. That being said, all in all I think both clubs respect each other enough and even though we hold each others fait in our hands the best team will win no matter.

Apparently there was one allocated, he went to the wrong ground. At the end of the day there is too much pressure on players giving each other out or not out close to the finals.
