without doubt it is the miracle mile (run this friday) & these days its not even over a mile

it has the best publicity & politics no doubt, but is highly overrated as well no doubt

Agree totally Bayman - the race has become a joke, a laughing stock.. they now run the 1st half in about 59.5 and home in 56 - 57 seconds.. think it's interesting that 13 out of the last 20 winners have led and won.. pretty sad!!!
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

i dont see how this is different to any other race, th eleader will try to go as slow as possible for the first half and tehn sprint home. surely it is up to teh drivers of horses who arent in the lead to try and make a race of it (which of course they wont). and surely it should be run over a mile

it may well be the most over-rated race, but you have to give credit to the guys who market the sport in NSW for gaining great publicity about an over-rated race.

Personally think it's Be Good Johnny.. is not the quickest beginner and i'm betting on 6 and 7 getting across early, giving 8 and 10 a great chance.. think the $2.60 offers no value... in saying that he is going 100m better then slipnslide and he definately can't win...
