In 1983 we went from 6th to 1st, having played one finals game in the previous five years. And we'd finished last or second last in three of those five years. It can work that way.
Good call, I went from Primary School to High School in 1983, maybe Ill do the same this year?

It is a once in a blue moon occurence that I would be willing to bet won't happen to West in 2010.
Sturt went from 6th in 2001 to 1st in 2002, but the big difference was they had been a consistent finals participant for four years prior to that. They also had the nucleus of a wonderful side and just needed a fresh voice and approach (B. Phillips) after the previous coach had, to some extent, lost the dressing room and had run out of ideas.
West will be in the mix for a spot in the elimination final, they won't be top three.

Dunno about that - North went from bottom in 2003 (1 win and a draw) to 4th in 2004 and we should have finished top 3 but we didn't simply because we relaxed and thought it was in the bag but then couldn't win just one of our last 2 games against Glenelg at the Bay or South at home - both non finalists which would have got us third and the double chance! To make that hurt even more in the last round we were nearly 8 goals in front in the second term against South!
Sadly we also blew the double chance in Rd 23 2005 against Norwood when we played them at Water Polo at the AO
So no reason why West couldnt do it - they have recruited well after building a reasonable base in 2009? Time will tell as it always does!

Perfectly reasonable point of view MST, and I probably agree with you, just pointing out that it can happen.
YES they will 4th. Eagles/North/port to fight out for fifth
