10, 9, 9 at least creates three even fixtures.
And each club has to play 2 clubs 3 times in the season. Great disadvantage if those 2 games are against stronger teams! Advantage if they are against Bottom sides! So who plays who 3x??? In that case i would rather the bye

If was eight team comp you would only play 16 games and have 2 byes.

Isn't that the deal with the 9 team comp? Maybe 14 games and 4 byes?

looks like retirement for me then.
Go to North Haven mate. Pricey IS coaching he'l giive ya a game.

No thanks, although I only need around 5 games for the 100 there. Will saddle up in the C1's instead, no Modbury or Gullies should make for a more even comp. BTW I believe Pricey is Co coaching with Newchurch

last year there were no byes, some teams played each other three times and this was done on a random basis

Exactly, the league isn't going to give two teams a bye on the same day, in the same division. You play some teams three times, picked randomly, and if the luck doesn't go your way, it could cost you a double chance or a finals spot.

8-team comps don't work. Gotta be 9 (with a bye) or 10.

Exactly my point. I would just hope the choice in who plays who 3x is random

It is a shame Port District have withdrawn from this division, they were a strong side last year. Flinders Park will be my tip, but having not seen much of the other C5 sides, it would purely be speculation. Flinders were young and fit, and quite skilful last year, some of the games against Districts were far and beyond C6 football.. Should be a challenging year for all concerned!

No draw is completely random mate. look at the AFL. All depends on who's scheduling it. Only C5 so i doubt anything suss would be goin on.

I agree a real shame. We had some cracker games with them last year. Looking good again for the parks, haven't lost many and picked up some handy players for both C and D grade. Should be a good year going by all the banter on here  . Good luck all!!!!

I think your right Cows, If Flinders can retain and/or add too there C/D grades from last year, they will both be pushing for flags again i would suggest..
Since I am relatively uninformed of C5 footy, who are the perenially stronger teams? Assuming the draw doesnt change for this season (which it probably will a dozen times before round 1), What teams are going to be around the mark?

I'd say it's going to be really close this year, especially amongst the Div 5 teams C grade sides. All in the same boat as far injuries in higher grades effecting us and Div 5 itself looks as though it will be an even comp. Not sure about what Uni could dish up, usually competitive with whatever they put on the park. I expect Flinders Park to be strong even if it is their D grade. My spies tell me they are looking pretty strong across all 4 grades.

I'm looking forward to all the triple headers and a couple of friday night games - too hard to say at this stage who the standouts are going to be though. Ask again after Round 9 and we should have a better idea!! ;)

You can never tell with Uni, the strength of the side they put out depends on if they can play finals or not. Actually, thats a bit harsh, but your right, they are tough to gauge especially further down the grades. Looking forward to the new competition this season, varying game times will get confusing, but the friday night games should be interesting

I think we got you blokes on your deck in Round 1, probably a 12.15pm game. Yep, friday night footy at the Valley. Probably Round 9 I reckon. No doubt with a junior game beforehand to bring in a bit of a crowd!!

the c5 uni side aka the scum will be as they're always are: a mix of old talent, young kids often playing the game for the first time and people have an honest go. last season the scum were in c6.
they'll be entertaining to play against and are a good bunch of blokes.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much
