The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Melbourne host the grand final on March 20th against the winner of Sydney V Wellington, which will be played on 13th of March.

Look I dont care who wins the gf as long as it isn't Melbourne, would love for merrick, archie and muscat all to end up with egg on there face.

So was it a free kick???
The guys on ABC radio didn't seem to think so

It was NOT a free kick(the ball came off the SFC player's face NOThis arm), but the Ref gave it, so it WAS a free kick if you understand that. Once the free kick is given, it is the defending teams responsibility to play the whistle, suck it up and move on. they fell asleep and so they paid the price.Too bad so Sad Sydney - moaning about it won't change the result, ask us when Ref Breeze ruined two Grand Finals involving Adelaide by being quick-draw mcGraw on the Red Cards...we lost but only gutless pricks blame the ref. If you're good enough, you'll still win. doesn't matter which sport. Melbourne and that kent Muscat have been pulling that quick free-kick stunt for years, Sydney were even briefed on it by their coach, they still fell for it, no sympathy. I don't care who wins the prelim, as long as whoever goes through beats those bloody tards of Melbourne!! I would hate it if the tards won the toilet seat twice in a row.
C'mon you Reds....Adelaide United = its just like watching Brasil!!!

I love both footy[NOT the V/AFL!] and soccer, is that even allowed??;)

4-2 after FT Thiele. Eugene Dadi scored a consolation goal on 80 mins.

DISGRACEFUL handball but Payne for Sydey's 2nd goal. Fortunately, that wasn;t the decider, but it was piss poor and an indictment on the game.

**** v Bling GF. Unfortunate really, but they were the best 2 sides all year.

One of those rare finals where you don't care who wins because you loathe both teams :D

I'm loving reading the Melbourne forums this morning, they all think the FFA exists to provide easy paths for Sydney to win and progress, Unca Frank is a Sydney stooge etc, basically all the things they laugh at South Australians for when we say the same thing about the VFL/AFL. Just change Unca Frank for Andy D and Sydney FC for Collingwood and it all sounds very familiar no? Ooh itz a conspiracy dontcha know!!
It's hilarious when the boot is on the other foot. even though its a different code of course, The Victory together with the Jihad Dome/FFA have rectangularised(is that even a word?) the stadium(they[MV/FFA] say for better atmosphere[it will be], but it also reduces the capacity from 56k to about 48k "increasing demand by reducing supply"...very cunning. I think it will be a great game for the neutral to watch, the last SFC/MV game was a ripper, with both teams having a full weeks rest, they should be at full strength to go t it full bore again. I hate both teams, but i hate Melbourne more so as un-natural as it is, I hope Sydney win it. In extra time, with a jammy quickly taken free kick that Muscat gave away - that wasn't actually a free. *oops* too soon?

Is slightly dissapointing though that thet are reducing capacity by about 8000, there will be that many people miss out as the game would have been a sell out at 56k. I don't think football australia is in that great a position that we can knock back 8k from its showcase event, we need as many people going through the turnstiles as possible, really it's a pity the game couldn't have been played at the "G" infront of 70-80k.

The thing is, I don't think the game would have been a sell out, this way the FFA will not broadcast empty tracts of seats. At this stage of the league's life, perception is a very powerful tool. Look at the way the 'vultures' have tried to circle the supposed carcass of the league due to the slight drop in crowd numbers this season. I'd have thought the G was an option, but the MCC run that place and the Vics are in the Shield final, their(MCC) members would lynch the board if they ditched cricket for sokkah I think the novelty of having the Granny at the G would have seen crowd figures above 60k, which would be immense, especially as the MCG is terrible for watching football, great for Aussie Rules but I have sat in some shite seats for football. I think the FFA would be wise to consolidate things for a while, let the current clubs get settled and bedded down in their marketplaces but next season will see the introduction of the Jam Tards and the season after Rovers FC will enter. I personally think Rovers will be a success if they choose the right home stadium( West Sydney is a hotbed of football passion), I have doubts about the Jam Tards though. Surely almost everyone who was itching for change and a broad-based football team to follow in Melbourne jumped on the victory bandwagon in season 2. I think the Jam Tards will just cannibalize the real Tard's fanbase.

And what a beautiful shootout it was!! :D

Now in all seriousness, I reckon questions need to be asked over the standard of that surface and future use ... Players from both sides appeared to make some elementary mistakes whilst appearing to worry more than usual about keeping their footing.

Well done Sydney.

Nice to see Muscat the fu** miss. Hate the c*** with a passion.

Further joy is to see Thompson injured - great as he is for the A League - as it dims his hopes of a World Cup berth. He simply is not good enough for that level but had worked himself into position for selection again.

Great result!

Even worse CP they had the stand in the rectangular position last night which will mean more damage on the surface for AFL this weekend
