The June long weekend also features another blockbuster game between Glenelg and North Adelaide at the newly named Challenge Recruitment Oval (formerly Glenelg Oval).

I wonder if you will be still thinking that when you start working dasher.

The stats speak for themselves in recent years.

What stats? If Glenelg are playing North on Sunday, it doesn't mean it will draw a bigger crowd than if it was played on Saturday. Show me the stats for a South v West game at Richmond Oval on a Saturday versus a Sunday.

Two teams with a big supporter base will draw a decent size crowd which ever day it's played. Do you really think that playing games on Sunday will result in crowds of 8,000 people?

The Bays believe that they get 25% (?) bigger crowds for a Sunday vs the same game on a Saturday.

Yeah, a big thanks to the SANFL for giving North so many Sunday games at Prospect when the club requested all Saturday games.
FFS league, the club knows its fans better than you do, do your research and find out which supporters aren't bandwagonners and impacted as much by AFL games.
And how bloody short is their memory?
The Sunday experiment was tried years ago, failed and at the time the league came out and said that Saturday afternoon footy was the way to go.
They either have no care of the comp, are completely incapable of running the comp, have shocking memories or all of the previous.
Sunday does have MAY an impact aka 2006 to a degree (one would argue crowds would have been down in 2006 had it been a normal winter) if used sparingly.
You have to look at the crowds overall to make a judgement, not just what they get on Sundays as some "fringe" supporters become unaware of when their team is playing if it keeps chopping and changing.

Cue November 2007:
"Saturday Arvo footy is the catchcry for 2008"

Full circle, too predictable.
Morons.
You'd think they'd at least leave the decisions up to the club who at least have an interest in the competition.

Cant wait to play at Thebby.
2 game for Centrals @ Norwood Oval (Coopers beer)
Night Game @ Elizabeth V Port & North (should be 7000+) maybe even sturt, ladder permitting.
Game @ Berri (Somthing Diffrent)
18 by round 2. :D

Not a bad draw, dont like the Bye in round 23 though.

Ilagree that the sunday factor is overused in 07.

Everything in the sanfl is about novelty. 06 it was different on sundays and their happened to be some good contests along with the noarlunga car factor. fridays were big when they came in and became overused. i think the sanfl had to respond to sunday polling well last year.

I think some of u r a bit annoyed about sunday fooy 4 ur own selfish reeasons tho

See my previous thread of making the programme malleable.

What are they? I think I may have read about them in the papers at some stage. Is that the game that finishes before Centrals consider playing finals?

Disclaimer: This figure does not originate from any GFC statisticians. There are so many different factors which contribute to the size of crowds, that there aren't enough "similar" games on both days to accurately estimate the effect of playing a game on a Sunday. So I have no idea how they could make such a claim.
